Well done to our 3 competitors out yesterday at Day 1 of the Kildare T&F Champs. Emily N was first up in the girls U13 SP and had 3 great throws in only her second competition. She had to rush over to her 80m sprint where she finished in 2nd spot. Her semi was a hot one with the eventual medalist all in her race and she finished close behind. Well done Emilyππ»ππ»ππ»
Emily C & Ava stepped up an age in the Girls U15 HJ and jumped superbly to claim Gold & Silverππ»ππ»ππ»
Ava then went on to take the county U14 80m title running very strong in her heat, semi and finalππ»ππ»ππ»
Could not fault the superb organisation yesterday from Kildare A.A.I. Brilliant scheduling from Carmel and her team, excellent facility at Le ChΓ©ile Athletic Club and the many friendly and helpful volunteers ensuring it was a great day for everyone. Looking forward to Day 2 in Celbridge next weekend!

Super two days of competition at the Leinster Indoors this weekend.
The three amigis were out in force in Athlone!
Emily was quick off the mark to secure a well deserved bronze in the girls U14 HJ on Saturday morning. She equalled her PB and narrowly missed out on setting a new one, only for her hand to go rogue and knock the bar! She was thrilled non the less as she is Nationals boundππ»ππ»ππ» Today she had the LJ and Hurdles which she excelled in both, 6th in the LJ and 5th in the hurdles final, so close to a qualifying spot. She is improving in every event and definitely one to watch, well done Emilyππ»ππ»ππ»
It wasnβt Amberβs strongest performance yesterday as her legs felt heavy in both the Long Jump and the sprint, but reaching the final despite not feeling her best was a fantastic achievement. Today she stepped up to the 800m for the first time outside of the Combined Events. She stormed to victory in her heat, knocking five seconds off her PB. The final late in the evening was run at a blistering pace and while fatigue set in the closing stages, it was still a very gutsy performance, well done Amberππ»ππ»ππ»
Ava competed in the 60m sprint yesterday which was a very hotly contested event. While out of the medals, to reach the final was a super achievement given the talent in that age group. In the LJ today she jumped her heart out to come so agonisingly close to a qualifying spot, just 1cm separating 4th and 5thπ She dusted herself down though and headed for her 60mH, an event she is relatively new to. She finished 2nd in her heat to get into another final. While no medals to pick up, lots learned and more to do. Well done Avaππ»ππ»ππ»
Ava and Emily also picked up their Leinster medals from the Combined Events held in January - Ava picking up the silver and Emily the bronze in the U14 girlsππ»ππ»ππ»
Many thanks to Athletics Leinster for two great days of competitionππ»ππ»ππ»
