Worth a listen!

A lovely feature on KFM’s Kildare Today celebrating the wonderful work of the Wisdom Club at Clocha Rince Community Library, its partnership with Clocha Rince National School, and the recent shortlisting for the 2026 National Age Friendly Recognition & Achievement Awards.
A huge congratulations to all of our Wisdom Club members on this very well-deserved national recognition, and a sincere thank you to KFM and Kildare Library Service for highlighting the friendships, shared learning and intergenerational connections that have grown through the initiative over many years.
The Wisdom Club feature begins at approximately 20:45.

Kildare County Council is pleased to announce that The Wisdom Club in Clocha Rince Library, located in Clocha Rince National School, has been shortlisted for National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement award. The club will represent Kildare in the national awards ceremony in Limerick this October.

Established in 2008, The Wisdom Club was founded with a vision of bringing generations together in meaningful ways while ensuring that older members of the community remained active, valued, and connected in community life. Built on the understanding that the older generation have a lifetime of knowledge, creativity and experience to share, the initiative provides meaningful opportunities for older people to engage with younger generations, through a wide range of activities including local history projects, reading, knitting, baking, biodiversity walks, playground games, boccia, shuffleboard and many other activities.

The children genuinely look forward to the Wisdom Club visits and have benefitted greatly from the older member’s wisdom and experiences, while learning patience, empathy, respect and communication skills along the way.

Club members, young and old are proud of their achievements, including the Brigid’s Cloak displayed in the library which serves as a lasting symbol of what different generations can achieve when they work together.

Kildare County Council’s Library Service is committed to developing programmes that strengthen communities, promote lifelong learning and bring people together, through a wide range of age-friendly programmes and initiatives, it supports older adults to remain active, connected and engaged in community life.

What a fantastic day at Clocha Rince Community Library!

We had so much fun at Storytime with Mrs Books, who treated the children to a reading of her own book! Our LEGO Club Summer Finale was a huge hit too, with lots of brilliant creations. And to top it all off, lots of our young readers collected their Summer Stars rewards after a summer full of reading!
A brilliant way to finish our summer activities and a big thank you to everyone who helped us tidy up afterwards!

As Fr. Seán Maher prepares to begin a new chapter in his ministry, the entire school community of Clocha Rince N.S. would like to express our heartfelt thanks for all he has done for our school and parish.

Fr. Seán has always been a wonderful support to our pupils, staff and families. His kindness, encouragement and dedication to our school have been greatly appreciated, and his presence at our school celebrations and parish events has meant so much to us all.

We are deeply grateful for the care, guidance and faith he has shared with our community over the years. While we are sorry to see him leave, we wish him every blessing and happiness in his new role as Spiritual Director in the Seminary in St Patrick's College Maynooth, we know that he will bring the same warmth, compassion and commitment to those he serves there.

Thank you, Fr. Seán, for everything you have done for Clocha Rince N.S. and for the wider parish. You will always be welcome back, and we wish you every success and God's richest blessings in your new posting.
