✨ Maynooth University Teaching & Learning Showcase 2026 ✨

In May, some of our Computer Science staff members were delighted to attend the Maynooth University Teaching and Learning Showcase 2026 🎓💡

It was a fantastic day filled with engaging presentations, inspiring ideas, and a fun poster session 🖼️✨

We were delighted to welcome 600 finalists to Maynooth University for the Bebras National Finals in April 2026. Representing the top 5% of 12,000+ participants from across 23 counties, students engaged in a 45‑minute computational thinking challenge, showcasing outstanding problem‑solving, creativity, and logical reasoning. A fantastic celebration of young talent in STEM! 👏💡

In April, the Computer Science Department was delighted to host the Computer Science Awards 🎉.

We were especially pleased to have Unum Ireland sponsor one of our award categories, the MULE Coding Competition 💻. It was a wonderful day, with free snacks 🍪, certificates 📜, prizes 🏆, and generous merchandise provided by UNUM 🎁.

Congratulations to all our award recipients, you should be incredibly proud of your achievements 👏.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to UNUM for their sponsorship and for taking the time to engage with our students and share insights about their amazing company 🌟.

🎉 On April 25th, the Computer Science Department had an incredible time at Maynooth University’s Open Day! 💻✨

We brought the energy to the Eolas Building with live demos, hands-on lab tours 🧪, and engaging information talks led by our lecturers 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫.

Visitors also got to chat with our students and staff at the Computer Science stand and discover what studying CS at Maynooth is really like.

The CSC and the Computer Science Department Mentoring Programme officially began on March 24th, 2026 🎉

2nd‑year students met their final‑year mentors for the first time, kicked things off with intros, and enjoyed a fun ice‑breaker to get to know the group 👥💬
