We are a social enterprise set up in Kerry Parents & Friends Association (KPFA) day centre to give people with Intellectual Disabilities a chance to have meaningful employment like everybody else in society. The Green Thumbs Up team will offer Gardening Workshops from our tunnel in Kerry Parents and Friends day centre to interested people for a fee. The workshops will be facilitated by the Green Thumbs Up group and Lucy, senior instructor at KPFA and passionate horticulturalist. Lucy has worked here in the garden for 21 years, and has supported the group to develop and become very proficient and well trained in gardening over time. Our team can’t wait to impart their knowledge to others and earn money so they can pursue their dreams and interests. We have been participating in The Farmers Market with our stall, offering plants and herbs for sale for a number of years and the group look forward to their Friday morning market outing, and getting to know the other stall holders and the general public. The group also have a weekly Zoom Gardening class on Tuesdays for other people who attend Kerry Parents and Friends in other Centres and hubs throughout the county.
