We are delighted to announce a new opportunity for Digital Artists enabled by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. This new pilot has been established as part of the Arts Council’s Digital Arts Policy to provide a stimulating environment for resident Digital Artists and to afford them a degree of financial support to concentrate on their practice. The selected artist will be provided with access to a wide range of facilities and spaces dedicated to the development of digital art practice.

The Arts Council and the Digital Media and Arts Research Centre (DMARC), University of Limerick, are inviting applications from mid-career and established Digital Artists to take part in a Digital Artist in Residence pilot programme.

The Contemporary Music Centre and DMARC Digital Media & Arts Research Centre are delighted to announce an open call for Irish and international COMPOSERS / SOUND ARTISTS / MUSIC CREATORS to engage in a 10-day Sonic Arts Residency at the world-class Electronic Music Studio at the University of Limerick.

Facilities include:
🔹 Access to the Electronic Music Studio (EMS) featuring both digital and analogue workflows, including a bespoke Buchla 200e.
🔹 A 32-channel immersive sound lab (SpADE) and a makerspace to support electronics and fabrication requirements.
🔹 The facility also provides a range of well-equipped recording studios with a wide selection of microphones and production hardware and software.

Key Details:
🔹Residency placements will be offered during:
📆 9 September - 9 December 2025
📆 26 January - 26 June 2026
🔹 A travel bursary will be provided up to €350.
🔹 An accommodation bursary will be provided up to €1,400 (for 10 nights).
🔹 An honorarium of €1,000 is provided by the Contemporary Music Centre (CMC).

There will be an outreach / presentation element to the residency. This will include:
🔹A one hour talk/performance at DMARC.
🔹 The artist may also be offered the opportunity to contribute about their residency and their work to amplify, CMC's New Music podcast.

Artists will be selected through an online application form that includes submission of a CV, work samples, and a creative proposal.

The DMARC team are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and former colleague Professor Liam Bannon.
Liam was the founder of the Interaction Design Centre at CSIS Dept UL where his research, energy and initiatives had an international reach and impact. He was a significant supporter of our work and was a key contributor to many of developments that have shaped our centre and its associated courses. He is pictured here at left at the launch of DMARC with Dr. Miller Puckette (University of California), Professor Leigh Landy (De Montfort University), and Dr. Kerry Hagan (former DMARC member and Associate Professor at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and International Computer Music Association President).
