I said goodbye to a long term student this week. 💔 I feel lucky everyday to be doing a job that I love. Knowing that I am making a difference to children’s futures means everything. The improvement made by this lovely boy over the last two years amazes me. Seeing him catch up with his peers to the point where he no longer needs literacy support is very rewarding. 👏🏼 Telling his parents he was ready to take a break felt like a very bittersweet milestone!

It has been a busy & exciting break from the classroom! We welcomed beautiful twin girls on the 31st of December, much to their big sister’s delight! I’m excited to get back to all my lovely students and to welcoming in some more 🌼 Thanks to everyone for their lovely well wishes

Are you worried about your child’s reading, writing or spelling? Are you afraid that 8 weeks off over the summer will impact them negatively?

We are taking on new students for the summer term of dyslexia intervention sessions. These classes are for all struggling readers, a diagnosis of dyslexia is not needed.
These classes are a fun, social and effective way of supporting the struggling reader through evidence based literacy intervention strategies. They are also an inclusive and supportive environment for children who may struggle within the mainstream class.

What parents should know when bringing their child for an Educational Assessment!
If you are trying to find out if your child has a Specific Learning Difficulty ie Dyslexia and have made an appointment with an Educational Psychologist , there are some things parents should do to prepare. A private educational assessment is very expensive and you want to get the best value for the money and an accurate diagnosis and report.
1.First make sure that you make an appointment with an Educational Psychologist, as they are trained in Educational Assessments.
2.Next try to make an appointment with a Psychologist who has a good reputation in the area of Dyslexia. You can do this by asking Assist Dyslexia for a list of names we would recommend or contact the Dyslexia Association of Ireland. Talk to other parents who have had assessments and see if they were happy with their reports.
3.If you think your child is Dyslexic, the school may have said he is or you may have had a screening test, have some information ready to give the Educational Psychologist. For example your child may struggle with Irish or spend hours doing homework. Tell this to the Psychologist.
4. Try and find out a bit about Dyslexia so you can understand the information the Educational Psychologist gives you. Ask if technology is needed and ask what recommendations will be made to the school your child attends.
Remember, you as a parent will be the main advocate for your child in their journey through school. Knowledge and preparation will help you and your child get the most out of the assessment!

We have some spaces left in our small group classes for children aged between 6-10.
A diagnosis of dyslexia is not needed to join the classes. If you are concerned about your child’s reading writing or spelling please get in touch. Early intervention is key to avoid damage to self esteem and a widening gap between peers.

Our classes are have a fun, evidenced based approach to teaching phonics in a way that children with dyslexic type difficulties can learn from.
