Newtowncunningham Community Playgroup Ltd

Newtowncunningham Community Playgroup Ltd At Newtowncunningham Playgroup we provide a stimulating broad based curriculum. Since this initial meeting, the playgroup has gone from strength to strength.

The community playgroup was established in 1991, when a group of parents organised a public meeting to attempt to establish a community playgroup within the village. In 2009 we achieved the Border Counties Childcare Network Quality Award, this was in recognition of our commitment to children and the standards achieved through participation in the BCCN Quality Development and Accreditation Programm

e. In 2012, we also completed Siolta, The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education. We received our Quality Award and we are one of only two services in Donegal to receive this national award. We are committed to offering children a valuable early years educational experience, We do this by working closely with parents and addressing and acknowledging the children's interests, ideas, needs and experiences. We work closely as a staff team and are committed to implementing Aistear, the National Curriculum Framework and Siolta the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education.

๐Ÿ’ง A Thank You ๐Ÿ’ง

Our kiddos are mad for water play, whether indoors or outdoors, in a water tray, a sink or even the odd puddle! This came to the attention of one of our lovely families and to our delight a SuperDad stepped in and not only did he donate a waterwall for outside, he made and donated TWO! The excitement was seen on every wee face when we set them up and left them to enjoy their play ๐ŸŽ‰

Our R was so excited to tell her friends that she had helped Dad to build it and to show everyone how it worked ๐Ÿ–ค

Thank you Andrew, your kindness will fuel hours of play for hundreds of children ๐Ÿ˜Š

Today for our session we spent it in Moyle National School. Every year Mrs Graham the School Principal invites us all over to visit big school again to support the transition to primary school. This again is such an important part of going to big school and developing this consistent and embedded relationship with the school is essential in to show the children how positive it is..๐Ÿ“š

Today, June 9th is Transverse Myelitis Awareness Day and we are wearing our blue ribbons ๐Ÿ’™

You might wonder why were telling you this, we'll let Adelle tell you why;

"My nephew John was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis in November 25'. He is a healthy 13 year old boy who loves farming, golf, swimming and soccer but because of the onset of this condition, John has spent 12 weeks in Temple Street Children's Hospital and is currently receiving care and support in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Loaghaire. Before John's diagnosis, this was a condition noone in the family had even heard of never mind thinking it would affect one of our own. So, we as a family, are working to bring some awareness of this condition and help to inform others."

Here at NCP, we are always keen to support any cause that is close to our hearts and help to raise awareness in anyway we can. We were only to happy to wear our blue ribbons today that were kindly donated by John's Mum Yvonne and Adelle.

If you would like to gain a better understanding of the condition then please have a look at

If you are interested in learning about the support that John and his family get from the National Rehabilitation Centre or are interested in making a donation, then please follow the link below ๐Ÿ’™
