Inspiring the next generation through

We were delighted to welcome another fantastic STEM Summer Camp to St. Clare’s Hall, providing a space where young people could explore science, engineering and creativity through hands-on learning.

Over two engaging days, participants investigated plant cells under the microscope, explored the science of surface tension, and put their engineering skills to the test by designing protective capsules for their “egg-stronauts.”

Every activity encouraged curiosity, teamwork and problem-solving while making STEM fun and accessible.

At Future Cast, we’re proud to support initiatives that inspire young people and help create opportunities for learning, innovation and community engagement.

Innovation is only valuable when people can experience it.

This weekend, the Future Cast team had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Manorhamilton Agricultural Show, connecting with hundreds of visitors from across our community.

Events like this are about much more than showcasing what we do.

They’re about helping people discover what’s possible.

Throughout the day, we spoke with students exploring future careers, businesses looking to innovate, entrepreneurs seeking support, and members of the community curious about emerging technologies and new opportunities.

Many visitors were surprised by the breadth of what Future Cast offers—from Industry 4.0 training and European projects to research, digital innovation, advanced manufacturing, 3D construction printing, Digital Twin technology, and business support.

Whether you’re taking your first career step, looking to upskill, growing a business, or exploring new ideas, our goal is to connect people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities that can help them move forward.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, shared ideas, asked questions, and took the time to learn more about our work.

And, of course, thank you to our incredible Future Cast team for representing the organisation with such passion, professionalism, and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Last month we hosted partners from Ireland, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey and Hungary at the Future Cast Innovation Centre in Manorhamilton for a packed CoHER (ConstructHer Future) workshop.

Over three days, the team piloted our new Soft Skills & Leadership Development modules, covering professional & financial literacy, intercultural communication and digital & innovation competence, and built out a shared framework for internships, job shadowing and industry partnerships to help more women step into construction careers.

Highlights included an expert panel, “From Classroom to Construction Career,” and hands-on workshops mapping real practical-experience opportunities across all six partner countries.

CoHER (ConstructHer Future) is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Future Cast is proud to be a partner in the Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic W2W-Composites project, working alongside University of Oulu, Centria University of Applied Sciences, Luleå University of Technology, and partners from across Northern Europe to advance innovative and sustainable bio-based composite materials.

One of the project's key objectives is to transform underutilised natural fibres and waste materials into high-value composite products, supporting the transition to a circular bioeconomy and more sustainable manufacturing solutions.

At Future Cast, we contribute to the project through stakeholder engagement, dissemination, and knowledge exchange. By strengthening connections between project partners, industry, and the research community, we help ensure that project outcomes reach the organisations best placed to put these innovative solutions into practice. Our experience from the BIO-2-PRINT project further strengthens knowledge transfer and collaboration across the W2W-Composites partnership.

Mary Whitney represented Future Cast at the recent project partners' meeting, while Oksana Koshman continues to support the delivery of the project as part of the Future Cast team. We value the dedication of our colleagues and look forward to continuing our collaboration with partners from across Northern Europe.

Celebrating Leadership, Innovation and Inclusion

We are delighted to share that two members of the Future Cast team were recognised as finalists at the Women in Construction Awards 2026.

✨ Mary Whitney was shortlisted in the Best Female-Led Team category, recognising her outstanding leadership, commitment to innovation, and dedication to creating opportunities for others.

✨ Oksana Koshman was shortlisted in the Best Marketing & Communications Leadership category, reflecting her work in stakeholder engagement, communications, project development and knowledge-sharing across national and European initiatives.

While individual recognition is always appreciated, what makes us most proud is what these nominations represent.

Over the past year, our team has been leading and contributing to projects that aim to make the construction sector more inclusive, innovative and future-focused. Through the Women Empowered in Construction (WEC) Erasmus+ project, we have been working with partners across Europe to support women’s participation, progression and leadership within the construction industry. Through CoHER, we are developing learning pathways and resources that help individuals build the skills, confidence and resilience needed to thrive in evolving workplaces and communities.

These projects are built on a simple belief: that talent exists everywhere, and that creating opportunities for people to learn, grow and contribute benefits not only individuals but entire industries and communities.

The Women in Construction Awards brought together an incredible group of professionals, organisations and leaders who are driving positive change across the sector. It was inspiring to celebrate alongside so many people committed to building a more diverse, inclusive and innovative future.

Congratulations to all finalists and winners, and thank you to everyone who continues to support the work we do.

Together, we are helping shape a construction sector where opportunity, innovation and leadership are open to all.

This is more than a restored historic building.

It is a space created for people, learning, innovation and opportunity.

A place where individuals can gain new skills, upskill, reskill and prepare for the jobs of the future.

A place where businesses can access support, grow, embrace innovation and create new employment opportunities.

A place where education meets industry, and where ideas are transformed into real projects and opportunities for the region.

Behind this transformation are years of vision, dedication, partnership and hard work from many people and organisations.

What was once an idea has now become a reality.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped make this project possible.

To our team, partners, contractors, educational institutions, businesses, government agencies and the local community.

200 Years of History. A New Purpose for Future Generations.

We were honoured to welcome Minister Peter Burke TD TD, Minister Marian Harkin TD, industry leaders, partners, educators, friends of Future Cast, and members of our local community to celebrate the official opening of the Future Cast Innovation, Research, Development and Education Centre.

This achievement was made possible through the support, dedication, and belief of so many people who shared a common vision: creating opportunities for innovation, education, research, and enterprise across the North West and beyond.

A special thank you to Enterprise Ireland, our partners, funders, member companies, contractors, consultants, community stakeholders, and everyone who has been part of this journey.

It was inspiring to see so many people come together to celebrate not simply the opening of a building, but the beginning of new opportunities for businesses, learners, researchers, entrepreneurs, and future generations.

During the event, Minister Peter Burke TD spoke about the importance of regional investment, the opportunities presented by Ireland’s growing digital economy, and the critical role innovation must play in supporting the country’s green transition.

Minister Marian Harkin TD highlighted the importance of investing in people, skills, and communities, and the role education and regional development play in creating opportunities for the future.

Mark Christal, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland, spoke about the strength of regional enterprise and the important contribution organisations like Future Cast make in supporting innovation, skills development, and economic growth.
