It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our long‑time friend and club accountant, Enda Bonner, who died on Thursday.

Enda has been part of Cruit Island Golf Club since our inception in 1986, guiding the club’s finances with dedication, integrity and a steady hand for almost four decades. As a county councillor, he was also instrumental in helping the club secure much‑needed grant aid over the years — support that made a real and lasting difference to our development.

In his earlier years he was a keen golfer, and many will fondly remember him winning Paddy Sweeney’s Captain’s Prize — a moment he often recalled with pride. Enda always spoke warmly of Cruit, its people, and the enjoyment he found here both on and off the course.

He will be sadly missed by all of us.

May he rest in peace.

This weekend’s competition is sponsored by Dungloe Autofactors & Tyre Centre. We thank Hughie for his continued support and sponsorship. It’s single stroke this weekend and the competition is on Sunday. Weather forecast looks settled but with some rain for Sunday so we might need to think about the choice of tyres on the buggies and 𝓯𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓻 in the dead calm conditions when making the club selection 🛞🏁⛳️

A very interesting day on the links on Sunday with not only club selection on your mind as you approached each tee box but which Toyota was on the tee, and in some cases wondering just how it got to where it was. A fantastic display throughout the course.

Our winner over the weekend was Declan Gillespie who had been without a win for a while and when he turned at the clubhouse with 18 points he probably wasn’t thinking of winning but 22 points on the way home got him to 40 points which won on a break of tie. Tony Forrestal was second also on 40 points, with 2 9’s of 20 points. Chris Walsh won the gross on 2 over while neighbours Adam Boyle and Eamonn Hanlon claimed third and fourth respectively, both on 39 points.

A huge thank you to Brendan and all the staff at Kellys Toyota in Letterkenny for their generous and continued support of the club ⛳️
