✨ Our New Mud Kitchen & Messy Play Area! ✨
We are absolutely delighted with our fantastic new mud kitchen and messy play area! 🌿πŸͺ£πŸƒ

It has quickly become one of our children's favourite places to explore, create, and let their imaginations run wild.

Every day, our little chefs and creators are busy mixing, stirring, and making the most wonderful muddy creations while enjoying endless fun through imaginative play. πŸ’š

A huge thank you to our wonderful caretaker, PΓ‘raig, for all of his hard work and help in bringing this amazing space to life. We truly appreciate everything you've done! πŸ‘

We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who kindly donated old frying pans, pots, and kitchen utensils. Your generosity has helped create a magical outdoor play space that our children absolutely love. πŸ₯„πŸ³

It's wonderful to see so much laughter, creativity, and learning happening every day in our new outdoor area. Thank you all for helping make it possible! πŸ’šβœ¨

Last week, children from 3rd and 4th class took part in the Fresh Today Hurling Blitz in Wexford Park.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

We entered two teams, and all of the children represented our school brilliantly. They showed great teamwork, excellent hurling skills, and a fantastic attitude throughout the day. One of our teams won a match, and both teams performed very well in their other games.πŸ’œπŸ’™

Most importantly, everyone had lots of fun and enjoyed a wonderful day of hurling, despite the rain! We are very proud of all the children for their effort, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and determination. πŸ₯°πŸ˜Š

A big thank you to the organisers for a fantastic event and to everyone who supported the children throughout the day.

Well done to all involved!

Our Wildflower Garden Project is underway!
Over two visits with 1st and 2nd class, we have gone from an area of hard, compacted soil to planting the very first wildflower seeds

On our first visit, we introduced the project, learned why wildflowers are important for bees, butterflies, and biodiversity, and got stuck into preparing the seed bed. The children worked so hard turning soil, clearing stones, and getting the area ready for planting.

During our second visit, we added compost to help improve the soil and finally planted our seeds! We also decided to run a little experiment by planting some seeds in tubs too, so we can compare how they grow in different conditions.

The children were amazing throughout the project, remembering so much information from our first visit, asking brilliant questions, and showing so much enthusiasm for creating this space. The children also created posters to let the rest of the school know that this is now a special wildflower area, and we were amazed by the creativity, enthusiasm, and effort they put into them.

Well done 1st and 2nd class!
Now we wait, observe, and hopefully watch this space transform over the coming months.

Our wonderful Gardening Committee were in again helping some of our classes this week!

On Monday 3rd and 4th class had some gardening fun in the very hot sun! β˜€οΈ

3rd class planted some rainbow carrots and beetroot while also helping with some weeding and much needed watering. The carrots and beetroot will be harvested in the autumn.πŸ₯•πŸ’¦

4th class planted some rainbow chard and kale in modules which will be transplanted later into the beds and these will also be harvested in the autumn.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our amazing gardening committee who have our new school garden looking fabulous! The kids are enjoying their time with you so much also and learning lots of really valuable skills.

We really appreciate it. πŸ’š

Our wonderful Gardening club spent some time with Senior Infants and 5th class this week.

Senior Infants discussed the importance of pollinators and then planted some borage, echinacea and marigold seeds which will be transplanted into the vegetable garden to attract lots of pollinators πŸ¦‹

5th class were also busy! They created 2 wonderful teepees and then planted sugarsnap peas to grow up them. They also planted dwarf French beans in pots which will be transplanted to a bed later. 🌱

The peas and beans will be harvested when the children come back to school in August and September.

Hi parents and wider school community!

We are opening a messy play area in Wexford Educate Together National School next Monday. We would love any old wooden spoons, spatulas, ladles, saucepans, frying pans, etc. Of you have any old ones at home that you no longer use or are damaged in any way we would gladly take them off your hands. 😊

Also if anyone would have any larger items like old sand trays or water tables we are also looking for some of these.

Please contact the school if you have any larger utems to donate. Smaller items can be send in with your child to the office.

Thank you all so much!
