Congratulations to our past pupil Amelia
The winner of the Bantry District Award at the Garda West Cork Youth Awards is Amelia Quish!
GaddinAbtGarnish is a scenic swim around Garnish Island in Glengarriff, established in 2011, organised by the Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association (BISRA). Amelia Quish showed a remarkable display of determination and courage during the annual GaddinAbtGarnish event held on August 23rd 2025 in Glengarriff.
Aged 13, Amelia was the youngest swimmer at the event, successfully completing a challenging 3km swim amongst 300 entrants. As its Annual Fundraiser, entry fees for this event go directly to Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association.
Amelia was so impressed by the organisation and the safety of the previous events that she decided to raise further awareness of the Association and the event by creating an iDonate page dedicating her swim to Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association, raising €2,520 to support their vital efforts.
