Level 5 restrictions and Essential Driver Training

Under Level 5 government restrictions, Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) are not permitted to provide Essential Driver Training (EDT), even to essential workers. The only time an ADI can offer their services is for a pre-test lesson - that is, to someone who has already completed their EDT and has a driving test appointment.

The ADI portal is closed

The ADI portal will remain closed until Government restrictions have been lifted so EDT sessions cannot be uploaded or updated at this time. Anyone who received Essential Driver Training during Level 5, did so in breach of Government restrictions. Therefore the RSA cannot enter into any correspondence seeking such sessions to be uploaded to the portal. Nor can we provide customers with correspondence to complete their EDT.
The RSA had no role or input in setting these restrictions. They have been put in place by Government and the relevant health authorities.

These services include Driver testing, Driver Theory Test, National Driver Licence Service, National Car Test Service (NCTS) and Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Testing (CVRT). These services will continue to operate in line with government health guidelines for delivering essential services.

We're two weeks back at driving lessons now and I'm glad to say everyone has been great adapting to the Covid-19 restrictions. Everyone has been diligent with the face masks, hand sanitizer and the likes. I've been cleaning all touch points in the car between lessons and we will be continuing these steps going forward for the next while. Just mighty lads and ladies 👍😁
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
