Treasures hundreds of years old in our Coillte forests!

And only down the road in Portumna Forest Park... time for a picnic?

Our newly redeveloped Ceannt Station in Galway looks fantastic and major progress for connectivity to the West.

New platforms, new entrance bringing you down the other side of the hotel and into the middle of Eyre Square.

Great to see more train carriages, later travel times on the Dublin Galway line

Today, our own representative from Ballinasloe Musical Society, Gerry Sweeney is speaking on behalf of the Association of Irish Musicals in his role as President of AIMS on funding needed for groups outside of the Arts Council funding.

Huge challenge for so many musical societies across the country.

Well done to Principal Christine Connor and the board of management on great news that our Scoil An Chroí Naofa has received funding allocation from the Dept of Education.

This means that it's moved to Stage 3 with funding allocated. Thank you to Galway Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton, Senator Gareth Scahill and local Cllr Alan Harney and Cllr Jimmy McClearn and local reps for support for this crucial school build.

Fantastic teaching staff and pupils in freezing buildings in my own primary school and over 5 boards of management with so many parents who have fought for this project for decades. We now need to stay on top of this for next steps as it will take 2-3 years. The design team have put together an incredible new school for our town. I very much appreciate that this project will need all our efforts but the end line is now in sight working together with the Department of Education.

One of my major projects over the past few years and raised it during my time in the Seanad. Thank you to Galway County Council for the allocation of additional land for the new school design and road access. And to the continuous support of Fr John Garvey and school patron Bishop Michael Duignan.

Ballinasloe will have a new school!
