A piece of paper doesn’t make you a coach.

I’ve watched people qualify as a personal trainer online, get handed a certificate, and then nothing. No clients. No experience. No clue how to actually make a living from it. The qualification was the easy part. Everything that actually matters, nobody taught them.

That’s exactly why we built the PT Apprenticeship at Galway City Gym.

You get fully qualified, REPS Level 3 and 4, but you do it while you’re on our floor coaching real clients and learning from coaches who do this every day. We bring in Brian Keane to show you how to turn it into a real business. And when you graduate, you get the opportunity to run your own PT business from right here.

That is how Robert did it.

The September block is now open. We’re taking 10 people, and applications close Monday.

If you have ever thought about turning training into your career, this is it. Message us the word INTERESTED and we will tell you everything.

Robert said something in his review that stuck with me:

“I used to be morbidly obese… and now I want to help people better themselves.”

That’s not a weakness — that’s lived experience.
That’s empathy.
That’s the kind of coach people trust.

When Robert joined the PT Apprenticeship, he wasn’t starting from zero — he was building on his own journey, adding the skills, structure and confidence he needed to turn it into a real career.

Across the qualification he:
• Studied the full online content at his own pace
• Learned movement, coaching and assessments face-to-face in Galway
• Practiced real sessions on the gym floor
• Completed the practical exam with proper support
• Built a genuine understanding of training, nutrition, physiology and communication
• And finished with a qualification + the confidence to start coaching for real

This is what the Apprenticeship is about — taking people who care, who’ve lived through their own journey, and giving them the hands-on experience and education to coach others with confidence.

January is when a lot of people start thinking about career changes — and interest for the next intake has already started.

If you’re curious about becoming a coach — even if it’s just a “maybe” — send me a message and I’ll talk you through what it could look like.
