Hard luck to our boys who played so well today in very tough weather conditions for hurling. It was everything a final should be with great effort and attitude shown by both teams. The game hung in the balance up until the last minute when Lawrencetown goaled to seal victory.
At the end of the first half Woodford trailed by 3 points to 2 with great defending on show from both sides. There were two exceptional performances from both goalkeepers on the day. We are very proud of the attitude shown by all our players, subs and supporters today.
It wasn’t a day for skilful attacking play but our players never gave up. Congratulations to a tough competitive Lawrencetown NS team on a great victory in the end.

The girls of Derryoober/Woodford did fantastic today. All you can ever do is give your best effort, and the girls certainly did this, in one of the most entertaining finals of the day. Congratulations to Gurteen who came from behind to win on a 4-1 to 2-2 scoreline in a wonderful game. Davitts have some future stars and a couple we’ll have to encourage to join up. Well done girls👏

What a great day for our footballers.
Our victorious football team have left the plaza and are on the way home. They played really well today and represented the school excellently. We’ll be back in Woodford at approximately 3:15pm 🏆🏐
Hard luck to a young & skillful Kilrickle side 👏.

Best of luck to our boys’ football team🏐
We may need a bit of help with this one!
This week, we’ve been chatting about teams who enjoyed football in St Joseph’s NS Woodford over the years and were unlucky not to reach a final. We’re wondering if any of our more experienced past pupils or supporters might know — have St. Joseph’s N.S. Woodford ever reached or won a boys’ primary school football final before? 🏆
Feel free to tag anyone who might know the answer!
Best of luck to our team and helpers tomorrow at 11:30am in Knockdoemore, Claregalway (H91 E7F4), where we face Kilrickle N.S. in the final. The players are very excited for the occasion. Thank you to Jason who came in to talk to the boys a bit about big games and his enjoyment of playing under age football for Tommy Larkins.
Who knows… maybe we’ll have to re-start a Tommy Larkins football team yet! 🤔🏐🏐
