🏆 World Cup Sweepstake Results – We Have a Champion! 🏆
After an incredible tournament, our Parent Association World Cup Sweepstake has come to an end with Spain crowned World Champions, defeating Argentina in the final.
Despite the match finishing 0-0 after 90 minutes, Spain's triumph secured the all-important 12 bonus points for lifting the trophy, proving decisive in the final standings.
🎉 Congratulations to our prize winners:
🥇 1st Place – Shane Kelly (110 points) - €300
🥈 2nd Place – Noel (Cosy) Burke (105 points) - €100
🥉 3rd Place – Christopher Loughrey (102 points) - €50
And no competition would be complete without a special mention for our Wooden Spoon winner... 🥄
😄 Kelly Lyons, who bravely battled through the tournament but ultimately finished bottom of the standings! - For that there's still €50!!
A huge thank you to everyone who took part over the course of the tournament. We hope you enjoyed following your teams and keeping an eye on the leaderboard as the drama unfolded.
Well done again to Shane on becoming our World Cup Sweepstake Champion! 👏⚽🏆

It is with great sadness and shock that we learned of the passing of our school bus driver, Brendan Clarke, following an unfortunate accident at home.
Brendan will be deeply missed by everyone in our school community. For many years, he was a patient, caring and familiar presence on the school bus run, ensuring our children travelled safely to and from school each day.
We have many fond memories of Brendan. Whether on school tours, sports trips or the daily run, nothing ever seemed to faze him. We often tested his patience with a text to say we’d be late home from a match, and his reassuring reply was always, “I’ll hold on,” even though we knew the farming chores were waiting for him.
He was always ready to lend a helping hand—carefully lifting bicycles from the boot of the bus on cycling days, transporting school projects with care, delivering Communion artwork to the church, and quietly helping in countless other ways. No task was too much trouble.
He carried out his duties with great care.
Brendan’s kindness, reliability and gentle nature will be remembered. He was not only our bus driver, but was also a valued member of our school community and a friend to many.
On behalf of the staff, pupils and Board of Management of St. Joseph’s N.S., Woodford, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to Brendan’s wife, Hilda, his family, friends and all who loved him at this incredibly difficult time.
