Yesterday, we held the final of our annual Phil Dunne Football Leagues.

Each year, this competition is held in memory of the late Mr Phil Dunne, a former teacher in St Kevin's who established the tournament during his time in our school. His legacy continues through this much-loved competition, which promotes teamwork, participation and a love of sport among our pupils.

We were delighted to welcome Phil's brother, Raymond, back to the school to spectate at the final and participate in the awards ceremony afterwards. Raymond shared some encouraging words with the boys about the importance of sport in our lives and the positive impact it can have both on and off the pitch. We thank him for joining us on such a special occasion.

A special thank you also to Mrs Comerford for preparing a beautiful prayer and poem in honour of Phil.

The final itself was an exciting and closely contested game between Australia and Morocco. Both teams displayed tremendous skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout. Congratulations to Morocco, who emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, and commiserations to Australia, who put in a fantastic performance.

Player of the Tournament awards were presented to one pupil from each class from 3rd to 6th Class. Congratulations to all of the recipients, whose outstanding contributions, effort and teamwork throughout the tournament were recognised.

Finally, a huge thank you to Ms McKiernan for organising the tournament and refereeing the games throughout the competition. Her hard work and dedication ensured another successful and enjoyable Phil Dunne Football League for all involved.

โšฝ๐Ÿ† Well done to everyone who took part!

Our 5th and 6th Class boys had a fantastic day out at Flynn Park!

The boys explored the Aqua Lough Water Park and participated in a range of team-building games, showing great teamwork, encouragement and enthusiasm throughout the day. There were plenty of laughs, lots of splashes and some very competitive challenges along the way!

A great day was had by both pupils and staff, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves and making lasting memories together.

We had a very special day in our school as we proudly raised our Green Flag for Biodiversity.

This achievement reflects the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of so many people over the past number of years. We are incredibly proud of our boys, the Green Schools Committee, our dedicated teachers and SNAs, and our School Gardening Club for all they have done to help make our school a greener, more biodiverse place.

Together, they have created new habitats, cared for our school grounds, promoted biodiversity throughout the school and inspired others to take action for the environment. Their efforts were recognised nationally when we were named Biodiversity Primary School of the Year, and our flag-raising ceremony was a fitting celebration of all that has been achieved.

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us for the occasion and helped make the day so memorable. We are especially grateful to the Garda Band for providing such wonderful music and adding so much to the celebration.

We would also like to thank Finglas Credit Union, Finglas West Family Resource Centre, GIY, An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland and the Green-Schools Programme for their support, encouragement and partnership throughout our biodiversity journey.

Thank you to our past pupils who returned to celebrate with us, and to News2day for helping us share our story with a national audience on RTร‰2. The boys spoke so well and were excellent representatives for our school.

We are grateful to our parents, Board of Management, Parentsโ€™ Association, staff and wider school community for their continued support of our environmental initiatives.

Our biodiversity award is a testament to what can be achieved when everybody works together towards a shared goal. We hope it will continue to inspire future generations of children to care for and protect the natural world around them.

Well done to everyone involved. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and of our school community.

Our feature on News2day (Friday 12th June) can be watched back on the RTร‰ Player.

โœจKindness Week โœจ

This week, classes took part in a wide range of activities that encouraged kindness, teamwork and inclusion. Pupils shared compliments with one another, created kindness cards and notes, visited the affirmation table, played card games together, made friendship bracelets and took part in colouring and poster competitions. Many children also showed kindness through helping their teachers and supporting their friends in class and around the school.

The week finished with an incredible Talent Show where pupils confidently showcased their amazing talents. We were treated to singing, dancing, shadow boxing, skipping, magic tricks, art displays, musical performances, karate, football and basketball skills, gymnastics, and even a remote control helicopter and car demonstration! ๐ŸŒŸ

A huge thank you to Ms. McKiernan for all of her hard work in organising such a special week for our school community. Thank you also to all of the pupils, staff and parents for their enthusiasm and engagement in all of the activities throughout the week. ๐Ÿ’›
