The children had great fun opening horse chestnut shells and discovering the shiny conkers hidden inside! There was lots of excitement, curiosity, and interaction as they explored the shells together, sharing the experience and helping one another. This hands-on activity also provided a wonderful opportunity to develop their fine motor skills as they used their fingers and hands to open, pull, and explore.
🌰🍁 We can’t wait to use our conkers for more fun and exciting activities in the coming days! 😊

💚 Fáilte Friday! We were delighted to welcome Eoin to our afternoon class today. He read a lovely story with the children and spent time admiring his son’s journal. The children were thrilled to have him visit and were excited to show him their art also.

If any parent would like to visit please reach out to a member of the team to arrange a Friday that suits.

We had an exciting time learning all about Australia! 🇦🇺 The children explored Aboriginal-inspired art through creative arts and crafts, designed their own boomerangs, painted their koala masks, and even built their own versions of the Melbourne Museum and Luna Park.

They also loved our hands-on tuff tray activities, exploring the Australian Outback and rescuing Australian animals by carefully untying ribbons. Our movement breaks brought the learning to life as the children jumped like kangaroos, groomed themselves like koalas, and imagined exploring the vast Australian Outback.

It has been a fun-filled Australian adventure, with the children learning through play, creativity, hands-on experiences and plenty of social interactions! 😊

The children had fun tasting crab apples and exploring fractions in a hands-on way. As we cut the apples into parts, we talked about how many pieces make a whole. They also used their senses to describe the taste and texture, with words such as sour, juicy, crunchy, and like lemon. The children noticed that the crab apples were green, shiny, and sparkly, making the activity a lovely combination of maths, language, and sensory exploration. We also explored the different parts of an apple which we will further talk about in the weeks ahead 😄

September has been a positive month of settling in, building relationships, and developing confidence. The children have made progress in understanding classroom expectations, following daily routines, caring for their environment, and becoming more independent. Through songs, games, demonstrations, and repeated practice, the children have begun to develop the skills needed to participate confidently in classroom life.

As we move forward, we will continue to reinforce positive behaviour, independence, friendships, and safe routines while providing opportunities for the children to explore, communicate, and learn together.

Over the past few weeks, the children are exploring independence through creativity! At the Creation Station, they drew and created pictures of themselves practising everyday skills, such as hanging their coats, lining up safely, washing their hands, and putting on their aprons.

They also enjoyed practising their hand-washing skills on our Tuff Tray, learning how to wash their hands carefully and independently and the importance of it. Through these activities, the children are building confidence, independence, and a wonderful sense of achievement!

We had a fun day outside exploring our loose parts tuff tray. We used a variety of materials such as leaves, gravel, pine cones, sticks and styrofoam to build some interesting things! This activity gave the children the opportunity to use their imagination and develop their creative sides 😁. It also allowed the group to communicate with each other about what they were building 😃

We enjoyed a lot of outdoor activities this week. We worked together to build train tracks and towers using the building blocks. We enjoyed using our sense of smell to explore smelling jars, discussing what the smells remind us of. We played in our outdoor kitchen, ‘cooking’ some dishes for our friends!

The children enjoyed being introduced to the knobless cylinders. They were carefully shown how to carry, place, and explore the cylinders, noticing the differences in height and diameter. They then had the opportunity to sequence and arrange them, developing their concentration, coordination, and visual discrimination through hands-on learning.
