The children pulled on their wellies and headed off on a stream adventure. We had a fantastic time exploring our local stream and discovering the amazing freshwater mini-beasts that call it home. The children spotted Greater and Lesser Water Boatmen, worms, freshwater snails, diving beetles, larvae, and even a few young trout.

A huge thank you to Stephanie from Heritage in Schools, who taught us all about the life cycles of these fascinating creatures and the importance of keeping our waterways clean and unpolluted. The children were amazed by the variety of wildlife living right on our doorstep. After our investigations, all of our stream residents were carefully returned to their natural habitat before we headed back to school. What a wonderful day of learning and discovery.

Our pupils from 1st to 4th class enjoyed a fantastic day at the recent Sam Maguire Primary School Blitz in Dunmanway. The event brought together children from all the parish schools for a fun-filled day of GAA football, friendship, and teamwork.

In keeping with the spirit of participation and sportsmanship, the blitz was non-competitive, with mixed teams ensuring that every child had the opportunity to make new friends and take part in plenty of football. The atmosphere throughout the day was full of excitement, laughter, and enthusiasm, A huge well done to all the pupils who took part and to everyone involved in organising such an enjoyable event.

Togher N.S. was delighted to attend the launch of Stories on the Street at Atkins Hall, Dunmanway yesterday. We were honoured to receive a plaque recognising our participation in this wonderful community initiative. It was lovely to celebrate alongside representatives from other local schools and members of the wider community. A fantastic afternoon celebrating local heritage, history and storytelling - well done to everyone involved.

One of the absolute highlights of our school tour to West Cork Secret — THE GIANT SLIDE. The children from Togher N.S. showed great bravery and excitement as they zoomed down the huge slide again and again. The screams, laughter and excitement said it all. This video captures just some of the fun and energy of a truly fantastic day out with friends. What an experience.

Things got very wet, muddy and exciting during the Obstacle Course and Giant Slide at West Cork Secret. The children fully embraced the challenge as they climbed, crawled, splashed and slid their way through the mucky course. There were plenty of laughs, lots of cheering and more than a few muddy faces by the end.

Well done to all the children on the school athletics team who participated in the Cork City Sports event at the Munster Technological University stadium. The children had a wonderful day taking part in a variety of running and relay events.

Taking advantage of this fine spell of weather our Senior Room brought maths outdoors today for a fun and active Maths Trail around the school grounds and the sports field. The children worked together estimating, calculating and problem solving. A great way to combine fresh air, movement and learning.
