Our Guides represent the public face of the OPW, showcasing Ireland’s most important heritage attractions. The Guide Service plays a vital role in conserving and presenting heritage sites and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of the visitors. It is a rewarding and enjoyable job for those who enjoy sharing their expertise and enthusiasm with others.
Full-time contracts on offer vary from 3 to 9 months in duration.

We continue this week with a lecture by Paul Brent “Captain George Sprigg: His Life and Times”. This series of ten lectures will be held at Dunhill Multi-Education Centre every Thursday at 7.30pm and are followed by a question-and-answer session. Light refreshments will be served.

National Heritage Week, an initiative by the Heritage Council, celebrates all things heritage. It brings together communities, families, organisations, cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation.

New history exhibition in Dunhill Community Hall opening on the 26th of August.

Saol na nDaoine ar Chósta and Chopair features history, folklore, pictures and artefacts illustrating life on Waterford’s Copper Coast in the early decades of the 20th Century, against the particular backdrop of the years 1912 – 1923, which was a seminal period in Irelands fight for independence.

The exhibition will be opened by the Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Joe Conway. The event will include live music by local musicians and refreshments.
