Celebrating Leadership, Welcoming the Future 🌟
PAL Mentors Honoured & New 2026–2027 Team Announced!
We enjoyed a wonderful celebration of our outgoing PAL Ambassadors this week and celebrated their hard work, leadership, and dedication throughout the year.
It was also a proud occasion as we officially welcomed our new Peer Augustinian Leaders (PALs) team for 2026–2027. Following a highly selective interview process, the incoming PALs now look forward to their Meitheal training in August as they prepare to support and guide younger students throughout the coming year.
A special thank you to our PAL Teacher Ambassador,, for presenting the PAL badges and recognising the commitment and service shown by both our outgoing and incoming mentors.
The PAL programme continues to embody the Augustinian values of unity, truth, and love while helping build a strong and supportive school community. Well done to all involved

The perfect evening at the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival in Lismore felt like stepping through time. This year’s production of Don Giovanni, Mozart’s masterpiece first performed 239 years ago in 1787, seemed completely at home within the magnificent setting of Lismore Castle As dusk settled over the town, the historic stone walls and sweeping gardens created an atmosphere that no modern theatre could ever replicate. You could almost feel the echoes of the past drifting through the warm evening air.
The castle grounds were breathtaking, with stunning gardens opening onto panoramic views of the Lismore skyline. The soft golden light of a balmy summer evening added a magical quality to the experience, while the gentle sounds of nature blended seamlessly with Mozart’s timeless score.
When the music began, the setting elevated every moment of the opera. The passion, drama and beauty of Don Giovanni seemed intensified beneath the open sky.
It was more than a performance; it was an unforgettable celebration of music, history and place in one of Ireland’s most enchanting locations.

Well done to our 1st year footballers who had their final outing of the year against Ardscoil na Mara.
It wasn’t to be on the day for our lads today but an enjoyable and competitive game was had. Well done.
Final Roll Call for the Class of 2026 and below a poem written for them by Mr. Power. You are of that certain kind
The words ‘Friary Spirit’ spring to mind.
Two years, no six, gone in a flash
Out into the real world you go, ready to dash.
Although as a group, you sometimes challenged me
No one can question your individuality.
As you embark on your bright new day
Please don’t ever forget the Friary Way.
The laughs, drama , time spent amongst friends
Remember the Leaving Cert is just a means to an end
While exams are important, and it’s nice to do well
There’s been something I’ve been itching to tell
When you get to my age there’s something you’ll find
That what matters most in life is to be kind
While you won’t have Babs to call on when things go awry
It’s time to stand on your own two feet, well, at least to try
Before you forget the smell of Thursdays curry chips and rice
Take the time to listen to some final pieces of advice
Your mind is like a parachute
It only works if its open
So, Don’t close it
OrElse it’ll get broken.
Meet new people, see new sights,
Don’t be tempted to get into fights.
Keep in contact with old friends
Don’t feel pressured to keep up with trends.
Read books, watch films, explore new things
Be cautious with who you start up new flings
Even if you won’t have Fr Gerry saying goodbye on your way home
At least you’ll never have to read another bloody poem.
Above all, make mistakes, it’s the only way you learn
And if your heart, it ever begins to yearn
For the laughs, the memories, time spent with friends
Times that you drove certain teachers round the bends
Take solace in the fact there’s something you can do
Think back on those memories of school
They’ll forever remain a part of you.
