☣️Throwback - Shelter Medicine group visits Dundalk Dog Rescue ☣️

Last semester, the group of students enrolled in the Shelter Medicine elective module of our level 8 Advanced Veterinary Nursing programme, visited a local dog rescue center. 🐾

The team at Dundalk Dog Rescue kindly welcomed the students to tour the facility and spoke to them about all things shelter medicine, such as the biosecurity measures they use to protect the dogs and staff. 🐶

We are so grateful for for facilitating this visit; it enhanced the students understanding and gave great context to the topics they were studying.

📚 Journal Club 📑

This semester, our veterinary nursing students have been running a journal club as part of the Clinical Governance & Evidence-based Veterinary Care module, which is one half of a certificate alongside Leadership in Veterinary, and also one module in our BSc in Advanced Veterinary Nursing.

Did you know? 🔍
Journal clubs are useful quality improvement tools that can help to improve the learning culture in practice as well as opening up communication around clinical governance and how we can improve standards for our clients and patients. 🐕

This week, the students chose a very interesting study around the behaviour of canine patients in consultations. Of course there was plenty of tea involved, and even some home-baked treats! ☕️🍪

🐾 VN3 Internship in Full Swing! 🩺

Our 3rd year BSc Veterinary Nursing students are undergoing their 11-week placements and gaining incredible hands-on experience! From cuddly companions to curious creatures, they’re meeting all kinds of lovely patients and tackling interesting cases every day.

A big thank you to the amazing veterinary teams and professionals mentoring our students across all placement sites. Your guidance is invaluable! 💙
