🎉 Huge congratulations to Ciara Murphy! 🎶

We’re so proud to celebrate Ciara Murphy, a former cellist and past pupil of Sligo Academy of Music, as she makes her National Concert Hall conducting debut with the UCD Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 7 February! 🎶✨

Ciara’s musical journey began at age six at the Academy, studying cello, piano, voice, and music theory, and she first participated in the IAYO Festival as a 10-year-old cellist. Now, she returns as a conductor, highlighting the incredible impact of youth orchestras and music education.🎶

What an amazing achievement at just 26 years old!👏

A fantastic time making my debut with UCD Symphony Orchestra conducting Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture as part of ‘A Swedish Rhapsody’. I was delighted to share the programme with Swedish conductor Stefan Karpe and soloist Rakel Simonsson.

A second debut followed with the wonderful UCD Philharmonic Choir performing works by Palestrina and Stanford under the direction of talented
