The visit of the Syrian President to Germany presents a rare and important opportunity for the international community to rethink its engagement with Syria. After more than a decade marked by authoritarian rule, devastating proxy wars, extremism, and geopolitical rivalry, the Syrian people deserve a genuine chance to rebuild their country.

Syria is not only a land that has endured immense hardship—it is also one of the cradles of civilisation. For centuries it has been a centre of culture, knowledge, and heritage, contributing greatly to the intellectual and historical legacy of the world.

Reconstruction must now move beyond conflict narratives. The global community should support efforts that prioritise stability, economic recovery, and the wellbeing of the Syrian people. Equally important is allowing Syria the space and sovereignty to shape its own future without becoming a battleground for external interests.

This moment should be used to promote cooperation, reconstruction, and reconciliation. With the right support and respect for its independence, Syria can begin the long journey toward restoring its historic role as a vibrant and resilient nation.

زيارة الرئيس السوري إلى ألمانيا تمثل فرصة نادرة ومهمة للمجتمع الدولي لإعادة التفكير في طريقة تعامله مع سوريا. فبعد أكثر من عقد من الزمن اتسم بالحكم السلطوي، والحروب بالوكالة المدمرة، والتطرف، والتنافس الجيوسياسي، يستحق الشعب السوري فرصة حقيقية لإعادة بناء بلاده.

إن سوريا ليست مجرد أرض عانت من معاناة هائلة، بل هي أيضاً واحدة من مهد الحضارات. فعلى مدى قرون، كانت مركزاً للثقافة والمعرفة والتراث، وأسهمت بشكل كبير في الإرث الفكري والتاريخي للعالم.

يجب أن تنتقل جهود إعادة الإعمار الآن إلى ما هو أبعد من سرديات الصراع. وينبغي على المجتمع الدولي دعم الجهود التي تعطي الأولوية للاستقرار، والتعافي الاقتصادي، ورفاهية الشعب السوري. ومن المهم أيضاً منح سوريا المساحة والسيادة لتشكيل مستقبلها بنفسها دون أن تتحول إلى ساحة صراع للمصالح الخارجية.

يجب استغلال هذه اللحظة لتعزيز التعاون، وإعادة الإعمار، والمصالحة. ومع الدعم المناسب واحترام استقلالها، يمكن لسوريا أن تبدأ الرحلة الطويلة نحو استعادة دورها التاريخي كدولة نابضة بالحياة وقادرة على الصمود.
