πŸ“’ We need your help β€” and it takes just 10 minutes.

With every primary Board of Management changing over in 2027, we want to understand what draws people to board service, what keeps them involved, and what gets in the way. That's why Educate Together is taking part in the Irish Volunteering Index 2026, the largest national survey on volunteering and civic engagement in Ireland, run by Volunteer Ireland and Bpact.

If we reach 200 responses, we'll receive a detailed breakdown of results specific to Educate Together. This will directly shape how we recruit board members for 2027, the training and supports we offer, and how we make board service more manageable and rewarding in the long term.

The survey is open to anyone connected to your school, including:
βœ… Current Board of Management members
βœ… Former board members
βœ… Parents' Association members
βœ… Parents and community members who might consider joining a board in the future

No volunteering experience is needed, and responses are completely anonymous. You might also consider setting aside ten minutes at your next board meeting for members to complete it together.

Closing date: 31st October 2026

SAVE THE DATE: One Day Together is back! πŸ—“οΈ

We are thrilled to announce that One Day Together will take place on Friday, 23rd October 2026.

One Day Together is Educate Together's annual national celebration and fundraising day, bringing schools, communities and supporters together to celebrate equality-based education and raise funds to support Educate Together's work as Ireland's equality-based school patron and registered charity.

It feels like a long way off, but time flies! Make sure you pop the date in your calendar now so you don't miss out on what promises to be a brilliant day.

One Community. One Movement. One Day Together.

"Looking around today, I see a school that feels more authentically itself – and it just feels right."

From St. Mary’s to Paradise Place ETNS: A story of community, democracy, and belonging ✨

For decades, St. Mary’s served its community with dedication, building a strong reputation and welcoming families from many backgrounds. As the community grew more diverse, the school began exploring how best to reflect that diversity in its ethos β€” a journey that led them to Educate Together.

The transition wasn't rushed. It was gradual, collaborative, and prioritised bringing everyone along. The result is a school where inclusion isn't just a policyβ€”it's a lived reality. No one is excluded. Everyone feels an equal sense of belonging.

Budget 2027 is on the way β€” and we've set out clear asks for Government.

From funding school patronage transfers, to €300 per pupil for primary schools, to real classrooms instead of prefabs, these are the changes our children need.

From first-day excitement to last-day tears πŸ’™

When Lorna Siggins' son posed for his first-day photo, she didn't need the box of tissues a friend had given her. She was too excited.

Years later, sitting in the car after his final day of term, neither of them could hold it together.

In between came something special: a school community in Claregalway built on trust, where parents took on the cleaning roster, the roll expanded, and children enjoyed circle time, book buddies and activity weeks.

This is what happens when parents build something together 🏫
