3rd Year JCSP Graduation
We celebrated our third years’ JCSP Graduation last Thursday!
Each student received a portfolio of their work in recognition of reaching the end of their JCSP (Junior Cycle Schools Programme) journey.
The JCSP programme supports students by providing additional learning opportunities and experiences that complement their Junior Cycle subjects. Over the years, students have taken part in storytelling, reading and numeracy challenges, music making, coding, artists in the classroom, and a wide range of STEAM activities
Our students have:
Held a python
Listened to stories about alligators
️ Researched the history of the streets around our school’s Dublin 1 neighbourhood
Created and published their own books
We are so proud of all they have achieved. Wishing our students the very best in their Junior Cycle exams and in the exciting years ahead
A huge thank you to our teachers, SNAs, and librarians for creating such a warm and welcoming library space and for helping make the JCSP Graduation so special ️

TY Student of the Month Awards (March & April)
Well done to our TY students who were worthy recipients of the TY 'Student of The Month' awards, for March and April. A big thanks also to David Smyth from NEIC/ NCI, who presented them to the students.

David organised quality work placements for our TY students during the year and we very much appreciate all the work he put in, to create these valuable opportunities for them.

Miasma play - science and history on stage
️‍️ Sixty TY students and staff had the opportunity to attend the play Miasma - a gripping one-hour detective story exploring the fight against the cholera pandemic, at the James Joyce Centre on North Great George’s Street, Dublin 1.

️‍️ The play was staged so that our students were very close to the actors, which made for a very special experience for our students. This proximity allowed the students to closely watch the actors’ expressions and movements, to clearly hear the words spoken in Dickensian era English and to absorb the costumes and props used.

️‍️A fascinating mix of history, science and storytelling that brought the past to life!

The librarian was contacted by Caitlin White, Education & Outreach Manager at University College Dublin to invite our students along. The playwright Colin Murphy was there on the day and spoke to our students after the play. He spoke about the themes, and his writing experience and process.

Crochet Workshop in the library
Fantastic Crochet Workshop! Mrs Hassan, the mother of one of our students, did a crochet workshop with students and worked with them to make crocheted hair ties/ scrunchies.

Mrs Hassan is a brilliant instructor and our students picked up crochet skills really quickly and made some great pieces.

We are very grateful to her and for the beautiful crocheted gift she made for us.
