From its founding in 1966 at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, the Educational Research Centre has been a quiet but powerful force in Irish education.
Through rigorous national assessments, leadership in international studies like PISA, PIRLS and TIMSS, and applied research on literacy, numeracy, and equity, the Centre has consistently provided evidence that shapes policy, informs teaching, and improves outcomes for students across Ireland.
Six decades on, the ERC remains collaborative, committed, and forward-looking—bridging research, practice, and policy with integrity.
We are grateful to generations of researchers, partners, and educators who made this legacy possible. Here’s to the next chapter of impactful work.
Congrats to Sean and Paddy from on winning the ERC - Tom Kellaghan Award at the 2026
