On February 11, MagicCube Education artist Ms. Shuang Yu brought the beauty of Chinese calligraphy to the National Library of Ireland! ✨

Alongside her, the ancient art of Xuan paper making was on full display, showcasing this incredible craft known as the "King of All Paper" recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. 👏

Using this exquisite handmade paper, Ms. Yu guided participants in writing 福 characters and their own Chinese names, sealing their work with a bold red stamp—a true mark of tradition and cultural pride! 🖌️

St. Brigid’s Day is a traditional Irish festival symbolizing the arrival of spring. When it coincides with Lìchūn (立春) in the Chinese solar calendar, it highlights a shared theme across cultures—welcoming new beginnings, sowing hope, and wishing for a bright future. 😊

On February 3rd, we were honored to join the tree planting to celebrate St Brigid’s Day! Together with the local community, we planted 33 hazel trees, each carrying a wish for harmony and inclusion.

Hazel trees symbolize peace, while the triskele represents unity—a beautiful reflection of our shared values. It was also a great honor to meet Mayor Cllr Brian McDonagh and Cllr. Grainne Maguire to celebrate this meaningful occasion together.

As part of the community, MagicCube was proud to plant a tree of our own, growing together for a brighter future! 🌱💚

As part of the Spring Festival 2025, National Library of Ireland, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ireland, will host demonstrations on Xuan Paper Culture, showcasing the stunning Chinese arts of Xuan paper and Chinese calligraphy.

Xuan paper, is known among Chinese literati as the "King of All Paper." In 2009, the traditional craft of making Xuan paper was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This event will feature calligraphy artist Ms. Shuang Yu from MagicCube, who will demonstrate live creative calligraphy on Xuan paper. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive calligraphy sessions, explore the art form, and create their own Xuan paper.
