We are delighted to announce that our second Colum Ó Cléirigh Memorial Scholarship winner is Lucy Brennan!

Lucy Brennan is a harpist from County Waterford, and has just completed her third year of studies in the Music Education degree at Trinity College Dublin and the TU Dublin Conservatoire, specialising in Irish Traditional Harp Performance. Beginning her musical journey on the violin at the age of three, she has performed as a soloist and ensemble musician across Ireland and internationally, including for President Catherine Connolly and with the National Harp Collective at the Edinburgh International Harp Festival. Lucy is a Senior County Fleadh Cheoil winner in both the Solo Harp and Grúpa Ceoil categories and is passionate about sharing the Irish harp tradition with new audiences. Beginning her harp studies through the Music Generation program, she is now under the tutelage of acclaimed harpers such as Gráinne Hambly and Michael Rooney. Also an accomplished harp teacher, Lucy has a strong interest in working with children with special needs and promoting greater access to music in the community.

We are delighted to announce our first Colum Ó Cléirigh memorial scholarship winner this year, Éamonn Gallagher!

Éamonn Gallagher is a secondary school teacher from Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo with a background in Irish, linguistics, and education. He recently completed his studies in Music at University College Dublin, building on his teaching experience and developing his musicianship further. He is an active singer and instrumentalist, and regularly takes part in choirs and musical productions. Éamonn is especially interested in the connections between language, singing, listening, and inclusive classroom music-making. As both a teacher and learner, he is drawn to practical, active approaches to education and is delighted to be taking part in the Kodály Ireland Summer Course.

We are delighted to announce our first tutor for our summer course!

Kata Körtvési graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Music Education and Choral Conducting.

Between 1995 and 2010 she was Assistant Lecturer in Solfege, Music-Theory, Score Reading and Choral Conducting at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music Teacher Training Institute. She worked as the Solfege Teacher of the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir. She was also the music director in drama and musical performances as well as the conductor at Sure Chamber Theatre, Szkéné Theatre, Honvéd Chamber Theatre, Jókai Mór Theatre and Jászai Mari Theatre.

Since 2010 she has been working as a Master Teacher at the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. As a Music Teacher, Choir Conductor and Kokas Educator, she is regularly invited to teach and hold workshops and courses all over the world.

International Summer Course 2025 | Kodály Ireland 22/01/2026

Our Introduction to Kodály Methodology course started with a bang this week, with 10 fantastic participants and our wonderful tutor ! There's still time to sign up for Solfege classes, starting February 3rd. Levels 3 and 4 take place on Tuesdays from 7 to 8pm with tutors Amy Walsh and Lara Afrazmanech. Levels 1 and 2 on Thursdays, 7-8pm, tutors Anne Ralph and Yasmin Folini. All courses are online - book now at https://www.kodaly.ie/events-courses/solfege-classes-spring-2026

International Summer Course 2025 | Kodály Ireland Our annual Summer Course, presented in association with DCU School of Arts Education and Movement, will take place in-person from the 30th June-4th July 2025, at DCU St. Patrick's Campus, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.
