The 1926 census search engine is poor. I found it difficult to seach surnames. It is much easier to search by townland or DED and leave the surname out altogether.

1926 census released to the public on 18th April. Enjoy!!!

Hi all, i tried to answer as many of the questions as came up but if I missed a reply or question, I've just got lost in the threads. If i come across as a proud Irish woman with distain for the treatment of her people, I make no apologies. However I put no blame on any other people bar the empires and systems that conquered and divided. Simple tactics used by all empires since the dawn of mankind. Still doing so while humanity learns nothing each and every time, bickering about who was right or wrong. The entire world is wrong in my humble opinion, but thats a post for another page 😂

Search Historical Records 25/08/2025

The familysearch archives include a lot of the records available on ancestry. Both to search and in their back archive. The LDS brethren microfiched the Irish records for their religious belief systems along with many across the world.I don't agree with any system or religion acquiring this information, especially when they are not of that faith, but it is what it is and we wouldn't have the records ready to hand otherwise.

You can cross reference searches with irishgenealogy.ie to acquire a record after searching on familysearch. It is the longer way around but its the smart genealogists toolkit without needing to pay the fees. I will try to feature each section of interest in the coming weeks including the Regisary of Deeds and how to use them on line. They are invaluable. I'll get one of the kids to help me with an instructional video 😅

I would also like to introduce myself. I'm Linda Dubhthaigh. The pictures I use on the page are Family photos from the border between Newry and Dundalk, Co. Louth. I moved to Dublin at 17 with no love of history or my ancestral background. I became interested in genealogy in my late 20s, as we had an interesting family connection in America. Ven Fr Solanus Casey. A beautiful quiet man and so my journey began. I studied under a sceptical genealogical master, Sean Murphy, in UCD who rejected that genealogy was for the elite only. He taught us the reality of bought genealogies , the elitest attitude of the genealogical society of Ireland, the nonsense of unproven Irish genealogies and heraldic art still presant in Ireland under the victor's emblems. I am strongly passionate about learning outside the history books. I look to the Bards and those that shone light on the true atrocities put upon the Irish people and Irish diaspora. I am a local historian with a deep interest in all aspects of Irish history. I believe anyone's draw to study their ancestory is a true calling from your ancestors to look upon them, their stories , their joy and pain. So a warm welcome to all. The profile picture I use is a mark of respect for my great great grandmother who lead me this path through to my 49th year but attached the face behind the words as 7k people is remarkable and I dont hide behind words.

Irish Genealogy - Explore your Family History 24/08/2025

Im going to post a few simple ways to get around the system of control in genealogy. How to avoid the indiscriminate fees by large corporations that we as the Irish people sold our ancestral soul to be microfiched. There is no need to pay for Irish genealogical research in many cases.

Most importantly is the free birth marriage and deaths. Roman Catholic birth records available 1864 to 1924,
Marriage register records, 1845 to 1949 and death register records – 1871 to 1974. Other christian septs records starting from 1845.

Irish Genealogy - Explore your Family History

Irish Genealogy - Explore your Family History Section 61 of the Civil Registration Act, 2004 provides for a member of the public to make an application to an tArd-Chláraitheoir to search the indexes to the Births, Deaths and Marriages registers.

Welcome to all the new followers. Goodness thank you!! Please never hesitate just to reach out under any post or DM me directly for advise where to start your genealogy journey or a brick wall. I specialise in Irish genealogy, USA and most places our delightful Irish diaspora are. I might be slow but I get there in the end 😊 I prefer to help and encourage folk in their personal research and will never DM looking actively genealogical work. I do offer services from time to time but this page is about support and community.

Hi All, I don't offer research to this community, if another DM's please ignore. I will never DM anyone offering services. I only ever reply to DM's or posts with advise on how to research. I actively turn down researching, in fact, at the moment.I don't do this to try build a business, I left genealogy research after Covid as the business simply was not there anymore. I do this as a hobby to help others. I try to catch everything but never hesitate to DM for advise. I can be a bit slow but i try to get to everyone,. I work 9 to 6 but always happy to share my wealth of knowledge to anyone needing help.
Peace and love and no scams here 😅😂

Many of you follow this page because you care deeply about Irish ancestry, place, and memory.

Today I’m sharing something a little different—but deeply connected.

I’ve launched a new project called The Resonant Stone—a solo heritage initiative where I’ll use thermal imaging drones to explore 20 of Ireland’s ancient sites.

These tools have uncovered incredible things around the world: buried walls, chambers, even unknown structures—without disturbing the land.

Ireland’s ritual and mythic sites still hold secrets. This project will let us listen—not through digging, but through heat, sound, and presence.

If you’ve ever stood at a monument and felt something deeper…
If you believe our past lives on in the land…

I’d love your support.

👉 Petition: https://chng.it/zmmdPHpFRK

It’s early days, but this is the kind of heritage work I’ve long wanted to see happen—and now I’m doing it.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
