Making Space for Change. GAP Ireland is an environmental charity.

We break big problems down, helping people to develop local responses and solutions, looking for practical ways to build sustainable communities everywhere. We work actively with communities, schools and business, assisting people to develop the required knowledge and skills, and encouraging them to design solutions to the environmental and climate crises.

🌳 NATURE EXPLORERS ON THE LOOSE! 🌳

Over the past few weeks, the boys from Holy Spirit BNS have kicked off their exciting Nature Explorer for Schools programme! 🦅✨

Our first adventure took us to Poppintree Park for a spot of birdwatching. Armed with keen eyes and lots of enthusiasm, we spotted a fantastic variety of feathered friends. While the elusive resident heron decided to play hide-and-seek today, the real showstoppers were on the pond...

The boys were absolutely thrilled to count 9 adorable cygnets swimming happily behind their proud parents! 🦢❤️

It’s been an incredible start to the programme, connecting with nature right on our doorstep in Ballymun and learning all about our local wildlife. Stay tuned for more updates from our young explorers!

This project is supported by the Department of Education and Dublin City Council.

What an incredible opening day at Bord Bia Bloom 2026! 🌸

We were deeply honoured to welcome President Catherine Connolly to Global Action Plan Ireland’s "Wish You Were Here" postcard garden yesterday.

It was an absolute privilege to greet the Uachtarán na hÉireann / President of Ireland Catherine Connolly and take her through the design, sharing the vision behind our garden and discussing the vital community climate action and environmental education work we do at GAP. Her warm engagement and genuine interest in sustainable, community-led change meant the world to our team.

The "Wish You Were Here" garden is all about connection, climate action, and the power of local communities. If you are visiting Phoenix Park this June bank holiday weekend, please stop by, say hello, and explore the garden for yourself! 🌿✨

No bees, no breakfast. It’s as simple (and as scary) as that! 🐝

Today is World Bee Day, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate the tiny powerhouses that make our food systems possible. At GAP, our mission to create a cleaner, greener planet is inseparable from the health of our pollinators.

Here’s why we’re buzzing about bees today:
🐝 Biodiversity Champions: Bees are essential for a thriving ecosystem. By protecting them, we protect the variety of life that keeps our planet resilient.
🐝 Sustainable Food Systems: Roughly one-third of the food we eat depends on pollinators. Supporting bees is a direct investment in food security.
🐝 Climate Action: Healthy bee populations signal a healthy environment. Our work in reducing air pollution and waste directly creates safer habitats for these fuzzy flyers.

How you can help:
🌼 Plant for Pollinators: Even a window box of native wildflowers can be a pit stop for a tired bee.
🌼 Go Chemical-Free: Avoid pesticides in your garden to keep their environment safe.
🌼 Support GAP: Join our movement to tackle the root causes of environmental stress, making the world a better place for humans and bees alike.

As Albert Einstein said, "If the bee disappeared off the face of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left."
Let’s make sure that never happens. Let’s keep the world buzzing 🌎
