50 Years Serving and Educating in the Community
St. Laurence College is a Catholic, Marianist, co-educational secondary school, which caters for students of all abilities. We strive to meet the needs of the whole school community so that the growth and development of each individual is realised. We seek to achieve this by creating a Marianist family atmosphere where parents and guardians, staff and students work for the spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical and emotional growth of all.
Our College is guided by the Characteristics of Marianist Education (CME’s) to:
· Educate for formation in faith
· Provide an integral, quality education
· Educate in family spirit
· Educate for service, justice and peace
· Educate for adaptation and change
We advocate a holistic approach to education and seek to equip students to embrace the many challenges that life may present. In providing a quality education, we aim to support each student to maximise their potential and realise their goals, by:
· Bringing students to a deeper appreciation of the CME’s in and through our teaching.
· Instilling a sense of responsibility to positively contribute to society.
· Fostering an ability to evolve and adapt to an ever changing world.
· Encouraging each individual to be the best that they can be.
· Bringing students to a deeper appreciation of their moral and spiritual development.
Our goal is to develop every student as a whole person, helping them to understand the many different branches of human knowledge, educating them to critical thinking and stimulating their desire for truth and theory in action.
The St. Laurence College motto, “Out of Darkness Towards Truth and Imagination”, symbolises the belief that striving for truth and imagination is the hallmark of education.
The College offers a comprehensive curriculum reflecting the wide range of subjects available in the school. The College has excellent sporting, pastoral, extracurricular and educational supports to meet the needs of students, staff and the community and can cater for 500 students.
St. Laurence College is easily accessible on the Bray to Dublin N11 road, at its intersection with the R118 road to Dun Laoghaire and Cherrywood, near to junction 16 on the M50. It is well serviced by public transport.
St. Laurence College is adjacent to the planned development at Cherrywood, which will have more than 7,000 new homes and a new town centre when completed. The college will continue to be an asset to its growing local population.
