Earlier this week we had a great visit to Health Services Staff Credit Union!

We were delighted to have the opportunity to speak with 75 of the staff in their branches across Ireland about how LIA is supporting the Credit Unions in attaining their MCC Requirements.

Special thanks to their Learning & Development Co-Ordinator, Judy Dunne for the invitation and to all the team for the warm welcome!

Excitement is building as there’s just 2 weeks to go until LIA’s Credit Union Forum 2026.

As we count down to this year’s event, we’re looking back at some highlights from last year’s forum.

“Relevant and practical. One of the best Credit Union events I’ve attended this year.”
“Excellent speakers and very relevant topics for Credit Unions today.”

This year’s forum will tackle the issues Credit Unions are telling us matter most right now - from AI and cyber risk to regulation, payments, culture and member trust.

If you attend just one Credit Union event this year, this is the one you won’t want to miss.

Just 31% of employers believe their workforce is financially prepared for retirement, according to findings from The New Retirement Reality, a new research study carried out by the LIA, FPSB, IOB, Retirement Planning Council of Ireland and Amarach.

The research highlights a clear gap between short-term financial confidence and long-term retirement readiness. While many employees feel comfortable managing day-to-day finances, employers see a different picture when it comes to retirement planning.

The findings point to two key challenges, limited planning and awareness, and inadequate pension provision. While people are saving, many do not fully understand what those savings will mean in practice, or how they will translate into income in retirement.

This is already impacting employers, particularly in productivity, engagement and workforce planning. For individuals, it reinforces the importance of starting earlier and building a clearer understanding of future financial needs.

As a contributing partner to the research, LIA believes education and professional financial guidance have a critical role to play in closing this gap.
