New Blog Post 🌿The Best Way to Manage Time in a Treatment
I recently had a chat with about how important time is, not only to us therapists but to our clients. During that chat Mimi described the colour coded system she used many years ago. When it is impossible to send a message from the treatment room to reception via technology they used a Red Card and a Yellow Card. Each team member knew Red meant "help or back up" Yellow meant "running late".
I'm curious what systems larger salons and clinics use to notify the team from the treatment room.

For the "Carry On As Usual" this one is for you 😄
Incase you missed my most recent story I asked the following question,
You've spent too much time on your massage, you're now running late do you,
a. carry on and run late for next client
b. skip the mask or led
c. neither I'm always on time
d. my dilemma everyday
70% of you responded carry on and run late. Now I commend you for not cutting appointments short but I have to ask the following questions👇
🌿If this is happening multiple times a day, running around trying to get your room turned around for the next client is that benefiting your health on a daily basis? Burnout incoming.......
🌿Have you got a buffer between clients to catch up or are you late for your next client? The client who may have organised a babysitter for a specific time or is on a break from work. We owe it to those clients to stay on time.
🌿Is your massage a routine or free styled? It is so much easier to stick to a time when you follow a routine.
🌿 Managers/Salon owners are you leaving enough time for newly graduated therapists to find their mojo in the treatment room? This might be 6 weeks of an extra 15-20mins added onto every treatment as a buffer. Allowing them settle into their brand new role.
🌿Salon owners does your treatment menu need an update? Does it reflect the extra massage time... because time is money and you should be charging accordingly 🙌
More to come with some great tips from another industry experts. But for now I would love your thoughts.
Do you utilise a buffer between clients?👇

Now more than ever, our clients are looking for value for money. They are all using some form of skincare and want results from those products 🌿
Having a relationship with a product house from a therapist or salon owners point of view won't reflect on the client. So my question is, do your products work for your clients? Are they delivering results?
Is it time to revisit your product retail lines?
Owning a small business is not easy and requires constant resilience and pivoting 🌿

Life in 2024 🌿
A frustrating couple of months for me with constant sickness. My body adjusting to the damp and cold after living in sun for 13 years has been a PROCESS!If I was to do it again, I would have booked a winter break to the sun. That said, the daffodils are out, and spring is in the air 🙏
In other news, I finally put pen to paper, creating the next 1, maybe 2🫣 courses for Aoife Marie Education. Both of these courses will be available online and face to face in Ireland.
One will most definitely be featuring facial cupping 💫 a tool I've been using and loving for the past few months.
For face to face training enquiries, send me a DM, I would love to hear from you 🤍.
All face to face training is accredited with AIT.

Folliculitis Post Waxing🧐
I saw a thread on a social media platform recently on folliculitis after a lip wax. The therapist was asking for advice on treating the breakout. Some advice wouldn't be my first choice, which leads me to the next question 👇
Do you as the professional know what staphylococcus folliculitis is? How to prevent it from happening and how to treat it should it rare its head in your salon?
I have addressed this in depth in my recent blog on the website.
🌿In short it's a condition where the hair follicle is infected with bacteria. Resulting in sore, itchy white pimples normally pus filled.
🌿It can occur after waxing if proper sanitization and hygiene practices are not followed.
🌿Treatment involves over the counter creams (in bad cases), avoid picking pimples, apply a warm compress multiple times daily and avoiding all facial treatments until infection subsides.

The Christmas period can be rushed. Clients are running late 🏃♀️Appointments get changed last minute and more often than not you can be chasing your tail 😵💫 Adding a new client into that mix can have a detrimental effect on your business. A distracted therapist does not perform a treatment to their full ability. This can leave a new client feeling disappointed and not return.
Just some food for thought🧐🌿
