"I lost my mother to a he**in overdose. She was very young. She was 31. The drugs hit the area and it affected all the families and she was one of them that got caught. It was a new thing and people didn’t know the effects. I was living with my Nanny at that stage. I was 12. I have great memories of her and I’m very proud of her. My father wasn't around.
My brother Eric and I moved to around 13 different foster homes between the ages of 5 and 12. Then we moved in with my Nanny Patricia, my auntie Lorraine, and my sister Gemma in Summerhill.
My passion for acting started after getting cast in a play when I was in O’Connell School in North Richmond Street. I messed about a bit though and I used to sneak in to films with my friends in Parnell Street before eventually getting barred.
I saw a casting notice in a shop window in Sherrif Street and I auditioned. I got a small role in the film. Then I decided to study acting in The Factory, Dublin acting school. I remember not even having the €2.20 bus fare to get there."
