From 8 May 2026 πŸ“…, all children completing the ECCE programme πŸŽ’ and starting primary school are invited to visit their local library πŸ“š to pick up a free book bag 🎁 to support their transition to big school 🏫.

The bags will be available throughout the summer β˜€οΈ.

All families are warmly welcomed πŸ€— to join the library if they aren’t already members πŸͺͺ.

The books and resources πŸ“˜πŸ§© in the book bag help parents and children with the move to primary school. The bag includes books for children to keep πŸ’› covering topics such as starting school 🏫, making friends 🀝, and big emotions πŸ’¬πŸ’—. It also contains useful information for parents πŸ§‘β€πŸ‘§ on supporting the start of primary school and details about what’s available at each local library πŸ“–.

Dear Parents,

The transition from preschool to primary school is one of the most significant milestones in a child’s early years. At the National Parents Council (NPC), we are committed to supporting parents and childcare providers in helping children navigate this change with confidence and ease.

We are excited to offer free online information sessions to help you prepare for this important transition. These interactive webinars are designed to provide practical advice, tips, and resources to ensure a smooth journey for your child.

Why Attend?

Our sessions will empower parents and childcare providers with practical knowledge and strategies, topics include:

Encouraging self-help skills (dressing, using lunchboxes, tidying up, making decisions)
Establish routines to build self-esteem and confidence in doing things on their own!
Practical ideas on how to support play based learning at home.
Helping children feel secure and ready to learn.
Session Details:
Each session lasts approximately 70 minutes, including time for an interactive Q&A, where participants can ask questions and get personalised advice from our experienced facilitators.
