YofA is proud to have been asked to collaborate om 'A Conference of Birds', a work in progress by The Elders. The Conference of Birds is an artistic representation in development about endangered Irish birds funded by Arts Council Ireland Arts Participation and supported by OPW.

Requirements for the prize are simply any art work that is considered a portrait and falls within the visual arts (photography, textile, ceramic, various paint mediums, mixed media, etc.)

We started YofA with a simple vision: to create something meaningful for families through the power of art. In just two years, that vision has grown into a beautiful community offering workshops for families, children, adults, preschoolers, school groups, groups with disabilities, and even corporate teams.

YofA was founded by mothers, for families, and we’re so proud of how far it’s come — and of the connections, confidence, and creativity it continues to inspire.

For individuals, it can be a gentle outlet for emotions, a way to process thoughts, and a tool for building confidence and calm. But its impact doesn’t stop there. When families create together, something beautiful happens—walls come down, laughter bubbles up, and bonds grow stronger.

Through YofA, we’ve seen how shared creative time can become a space for connection, reflection, and joy. It’s not just about making art—it’s about making memories, building trust, and growing together.

Look, I’m not here to start a gender debate—men have their own struggles (you've convinced me... man flu is real). But let’s talk about the Invisible Load of Motherhood for a second. And no, I'm not here playing the 'aul invisible violin, but with Mother’s Day around the corner, we feel some recognition is due.

Mamas. We’re out here running entire households, careers, emotional support centers, and snack distribution services—all at the same time. We somehow know where everyone’s missing sock is, what day the science project is due, and exactly how much ketchup is left (you’re welcome).

But here’s the thing: we’re really bad at taking a break. Self-care? Sounds great… in theory. In reality, it’s usually a cold cup of coffee and five minutes of alone time before someone yells, “Maaaaam!”

So, this Mother’s Day, let’s flip the script. Instead of just thanking the m**s in your life for all they do, let’s give them a day to do absolutely nothing (except have fun, relax, and maybe finally finish that cup of coffee while it’s still hot).
