New Hire Onboarding is possibly one of the most important, yet bespoke body of active processes among organisations. It can be forgotten about but please dont let it be, you want this person to thrive, so set the foundation to make that happen.
Some need a very clear concise process where the structure merely compliments a very clear and daily habitulised culture.
Others need a process that is more comprehensive, where multiple stakeholders are invested in the direct success of a new team-member. These processes should be a realistic reflection of when a person can be fully productive in their role, having all the information, access and culture shared and lived in their daily interactions. This could mean a 6-9 months onboarding process.
Some need something in between.
What is important is that clear expectations are set out. Roles and responsibilities are clarified as projects progress. Feedback loops are for the new team member to express the areas they feel they need more support, identify & agree what that support looks like. It can be as simple as folding a garment a certain way in a store to ROI expectations when investing in new capital expenditure.
Its only easy when you know how.
