A collaboration between CP Skillnet, Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet, and South East Technological University has delivered a specialised programme designed to meet the evolving needs of Irelandโs construction sector and support the professionalisation of health and safety roles across the industry.
The new Level 9 Certificate in Health & Safety in Construction provides a recognised qualification for professionals with significant responsibility for workplace safety. The programme serves both as a return pathway to higher education and an advanced upskilling route for those seeking deeper expertise in safe project planning, design, and delivery.
Commenting on the importance of the programme, Aoife O'Sullivan Head of Network Development & Innovation, Skillnet Ireland, said: "We are committed to supporting businesses across key sectors of the economy, including construction, to upskill their workforce and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving environment. This new Level 9 Certificate demonstrates the strength of the collaborations between our Skillnet Business Networks and higher education partners in driving innovation and raising professional standards.โ
Laura Dennison, Network Manager, CP Skillnet, said: โThis qualification closes key competency gaps and equips professionals with the advanced skills needed to lead on health and safety in complex, real-world environments. The programme also explores the role of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and incorporates international best practices in safe infrastructure design.
