Hello friends! Things have been pretty quiet here, but I have an update! What started out as a passion project has become a thesis! I have been accepted to Trinity College Dublin to complete a M. Phil in Theatre & Performance. This degree culminates in a presentation of my research surrounding career and professional development for performing artists. This research will focus specifically on how traditional undergraduate pedagogy can be combined with creativity for social development. So what now? Until September 2023 I will be seeking funding for my studies and continuing my work in the artistic community of Trenton, NJ.
heARTwork isn't going away. It's transforming, and for that I am so very grateful.

Take a seat, friend, and let me tell you about why I'm working to build heARTwork. For starters, I discovered I was NOT cut out for the standard actor's life. I took a leap of faith and tried to create a place in the industry that was uniquely suited for me! I’m so glad I did, because now I see the pieces falling together! Tell me, have you ever taken a leap of faith?

I need you to tell me something: What’s your surefire way to get a boost when your energy starts to lag on a hard day? For me, it’s a 3:30pm Latte. Works (just about) every time. How are you getting things moving this week?

Can I get candid? My very well-laid plans for my career have been both on and off the rails at least a dozen times. I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t hard. I’m glad I continue to push through, however, because there's so many good times ahead. The tough times are temporary, and in the big picture, it’s getting through those times that makes it all worthwhile. Drop a comment if you agree!

ATTENTION: You’re doing GREAT today, friend! Whenever I forget that I’m doing the best I can, I remind myself to be gentle with myself because life’s too short to sweat the small stuff. And that’s what I want to remind you of today, too! What’s something you remind yourself of on the bad days?

Are you feeling cluttered in every aspect of your life? I’m not just talking about the pile of laundry in your room that has remained unfolded for over a week. I’m talking about the feeling of burnout from doing all.the.things. If so, then you’re in good company, because I’m feeling the same way. It’s no fun, so I’ve decided to do something about it. Here are the steps I’m taking: 1. Going back to my core habits that give me energy and space to create. 2. Finding gratitude constantly. 3. Diving into my passion projects. There you have it, friend! Drop a “100” emoji in the comments below if this was the encouragement you needed!

Can I be real with you? I had the idea to start heARTwork for a few reasons. Of course, I really love working with artists, but there’s so much more to it. I could simply sign up for a local community theatre production if my heart wasn’t in this for a bigger reason. This community has so much potential, and I get a sense of immense joy with each connection. I need you… And one benefit of choosing heARTwork is that each of you are treated with individualism! What questions do you have? Let me know in the comments below!

“You’re being ridiculous.” You wouldn’t say that to a friend when they’re going through a tough time, right? Well, the same should apply to you! When you’re feeling down, talk to yourself the same way you would comfort your dearest friend. Drop the encouraging words you’d tell your friend (and yourself) in the comments below, and let’s all pick each other up!

heARTwork Recommendation! Need a break? A moment to process? Let's go old school!
Take out a notebook and write it all out! Something about removing all of those thoughts from inside your head and seeing them on paper makes life easier to handle! Plus, when you've tackled that challenge you'll be able to look and see how far you've come!
