🎃🕸️ Halloween Adventures at Play & Learn! 👻✨
Our Halloween celebrations have begun! This week was the first of our three special Halloween sessions, and we started with a gentle introduction to this magical, spooky season. 🧙‍♀️💜
🎩 A Magical Welcome
Even our welcome song had a Halloween twist! A magical witch’s hat greeted each little learner by name and introduced them to everyone in the group. A lovely way to make every child feel special and welcome! ❤️
👻 Halloween Words & a Giant Spider Web
We explored our Halloween vocabulary cards, discovering all the spooky characters and objects associated with this fun celebration. But we couldn’t just leave the cards lying around — we had to decorate our room with them! And where better to hang them than on a giant spider web? 🕷️🕸️
The spider web became the star of the show! We even challenged ourselves to make our way through a huge black web without getting tangled. Our first attempt was a little tricky, but that’s all part of the fun! We’ll keep practising on our next adventure. 😄
🎨 Creative Little Spiders
Our creative activity was definitely one to remember! Some little artists made their own spider webs by wrapping thread around paper plates, while others decided to leave that tricky job to the professionals. 😂
But choosing the perfect Halloween colours? Creating that just-right spooky purple? Adding a little spider and a touch of magical sparkle? That was a job for our little creators! 💜✨🕷️ Every web turned out wonderfully unique.
🧪 Witch’s Cauldron Sensory Play
Colourful rice, little witch’s cauldrons and plenty of opportunities to scoop, pour, fill and explore — what could be more delightful? Our little witches and wizards were busy creating their own magical mixtures while enjoying all the wonderful sensory experiences. 🧙‍♀️💚
🫧 And Then… Halloween Disco Time!
Just when we thought the fun couldn’t get any bigger, it was time for our Halloween disco! Music, dancing, bubbles and special little surprises — Halloween character foil balloons! 👻

🎃🧡 Pumpkin Fun at Play & Learn! 🍂

Our little learners had a wonderful time exploring the world of pumpkins last week! 🎃✨

We looked closely at different pumpkins and discovered how they can vary in colour, size and texture. Big or small, smooth or bumpy, orange or green — there was so much to explore! 🧡💚

Our little learners decorated their pumpkins with colourful pom-poms while practising their counting skills. We learned that one dot means one pom-pom! A fun way to combine early maths with fine motor practice. 🟠🟣🟢

For our creative activity, we painted pumpkins using different shades of orange, experimenting with colours and our little brushes. Then we decorated the centres of our pumpkins, adding texture and personality to each unique creation. Every pumpkin was special! 🖌️🧡

The highlight of our sensory play was making our very own pumpkin pies! 👩‍🍳🎃 The children became little chefs, adding different fillings to their playdough and mixing up their own unique recipes. Every pie was a little masterpiece! 🥧✨

Through these playful activities, we explored colours, textures and early maths while developing fine motor skills, creativity and curiosity. And, of course, we had lots of fun along the way! ❤️

🏡 3 Pumpkin Activities to Try at Home!
🍂 1. Pumpkin Rolling Race
Use a small pumpkin and see how it rolls across the floor. Can your little one gently push it towards a target? Try rolling it slowly and quickly, and talk about what happens. This is a lovely way to practise coordination and learn about movement.
🎵 2. Pumpkin Action Song
Sing a simple pumpkin song together and add actions: grow tall like a pumpkin vine, curl up into a tiny seed, stretch your arms wide and spin like a falling autumn leaf. Great for movement, listening and learning new words!
🧡 3. Pumpkin Shadow Play
Place a pumpkin or a pumpkin-shaped toy near a torch and explore its shadow on the wall. Move the light closer and further away. Does the shadow get bigger or smaller? A simple little experiment to spark curiosity and introduce early science concept

🍎 Apple Fun at Lena’s Little Learners! 🍎

Last week, our little learners went on a very tasty apple adventure! ❤️🍏

We explored all the different colours apples can be — red, green and even sunny yellow! 🌈🍎 We sorted them by size, finding the big apples and little apples, and then collected apples from our felt tree. 🌳

But oh no… 😱 All the apples had fallen onto the ground!
Our red and green “apples” were everywhere! The children had to quickly collect them and sort them into the correct colour basket. 🍎🟢🔴
🎨 Creative time!
We created a big, juicy apple! We painted it bright red — but of course, one side needed a touch of sunny yellow where the sunlight was shining on it. ☀️🍎

🌾 And then came the sensory play!
Green “grass” made from pasta, yellow leaves made from rice and lentils, and bright red apples made from chickpeas! 🟢🌾💛🍎
The baskets needed filling — and our little helpers were very busy! 🧺😍

Through all these playful activities, we were practising colours, sorting, size, fine motor skills, vocabulary, coordination and following instructions — all while having lots of fun! ❤️

🍎 Apple Activities to Try at Home

1. 🔍 Explore an Apple Inside
Cut an apple in half and have a look inside together! What colour is it inside? Can you find the seeds? What colour are they? How many can you count? 🍎🌱

2. 🎨 Apple Printing
Cut an apple in half, dip it in paint and make beautiful apple prints on paper! Try different colours and see what patterns you can create. 🍎🎨

3. 🔴🟢 Apple Hunt
Hide red and green toy balls, pom-poms or paper apples around the room. Ask your child to find all the apples and sort them into red and green baskets. A simple game with lots of movement, colour recognition and fun! 😊

Autumn Magic at Play & Learn 🍂✨

Our classroom was filled with all the little treasures that make autumn so special this week. 🧡

We explored our autumn vocabulary together, discovering colourful leaves, pumpkins, cosy jumpers, sunflowers and friendly scarecrows. 🍁🎃🌻

One of the children's favourite moments was collecting soft autumn-coloured pom-poms. Watching those tiny hands squeeze the bright, bouncy pom-poms was such a lovely reminder that the simplest textures often bring the biggest smiles. ❤️

For our creative activity, we painted beautiful sunflowers in bright yellows and warm oranges, then decorated the centres with Play-Doh and black beans, creating gorgeous textured artwork to take home. 🌻🎨

And our sensory play was full of autumn wonder too! We searched for chestnuts, feeling their smooth, cool surfaces in our hands and discovering the wonderful textures that nature gives us this time of year.

Autumn truly is full of beautiful little gifts waiting to be explored. 🍂🤎

Try these autumn activities at home! 🍁

🍂 Leaf Hunt– Collect 5 different leaves and talk about their colours, shapes and sizes.

🧡 Pom-Pom Sorting– Sort pom-poms (or small objects) into autumn colours like red, orange, yellow and brown.

🌰 Chestnut Treasure Basket– Let your little one explore chestnuts, pinecones and leaves while describing how they feel: smooth, rough, soft or crunchy.

🍂 AUTUMN & ORANGE at Play & Learn! 🧡

Autumn has arrived at our Play & Learn sessions, and this week we explored one of its most beautiful colours — ORANGE! 🧡🍁

The children had so much fun decorating our autumn trees with colourful leaves.
They carefully added mosaic pieces to their leaves — a simple activity that takes lots of concentration and tiny movements! 👌✨

We also discovered how we can create orange ourselves by mixing colours in both paint and Play-Doh 🎨🧡. And of course, our creative activity gave everyone the chance to decorate some very special autumn leaves in their own unique way. 🍂

We talked about what else can be orange — pumpkins 🎃, carrots 🥕, oranges 🍊, foxes 🦊 and so much more! This was a lovely way to introduce new vocabulary and encourage the children to look for colours in the world around them.

And then came our sensory play… and it definitely didn’t disappoint! 😍

Rice, pasta and lentils created a wonderful mix of textures, sounds and colours, while bright, chunky buttons in different colours and sizes added even more opportunities for little hands to explore, sort, scoop and investigate. 🔴🟡🟢

There was something for everyone — and plenty of learning through play along the way! ❤️

🍊 Try it at home!

1. 🧡 Orange Hunt
Go on an orange-colour hunt around your home or outside. How many orange things can you find? Can your child name them?

2. 🎨 Make Your Own Orange
Mix red + yellow paint and see what happens! Try making different shades by adding more of one colour. You can do the same with Play-Doh if you have red and yellow.

3. 🍂 Autumn Sensory Tray
Fill some leaves or small autumn-themed objects. Let your child scoop, pour, sort and explore. Ask questions like: “Can you find the orange one?”, “Which is bigger?” or “How does it feel?”
