🐝 Happy World Honey Bee Day! 🐝

Last week, we caught up with Beekeeper Ed and paid a visit to our resident bees!
Ed shared his passion for beekeeping and explained why these tiny pollinators are so important for nature & the local community.

After hearing from Ed, one thing is clear: when it comes to teamwork, organisation and productivity, the hive might just have us all outnumbered!

Thanks to Ed for sharing his knowledge with us and to our buzzing residents for all their hard work. 🍯

On the 29th of July, Platin Works held a Platin Wheelers charity cycle event in aid of Drogheda Animal Rescue. 🚲

Eleven cyclists took part this year, supported by a work colleague in the jeep. The cycle began at 1:30pm and took participants from the kiln all the way out to Clogherhead beach!

After reaching the beach everyone took a much needed break before setting back out again.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and supported the cycle this year. Be sure to donate to Drogheda Animal Rescue - every contribution helps!

🐶😺

After a busy few weeks, 21 members of the University of Limerick Formula Student team with the support of Irish Cement, travelled to the iconic Silverstone racetrack where they competed across design, cost and manufacture, and business plan presentation events. The team also put in long days working on the car before presenting it to judges at technical scrutineering.

The judges provided valuable feedback that will help shape their approach next season and preparations have already been made for 2027! 🏎

Irish Cement was proud to have welcomed both primary and post-primary students across our sites in Platin and Limerick over the 2025/2026 school year. Platin welcomed 537 students and 36 teachers across 20 factory tours.

Limerick greeted another 601 students and 46 teachers across 26 factory tours.
The school tours give students from local areas a rare chance to gear up in high-vis vests and hard hats to learn all about the process of making cement and the opportunities within this exciting industry!

Offering these tours is just one way that Irish Cement promotes positive local engagement and community outreach.
