Each year, the Irish Second-Level Students' Union (ISSU), the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC), the National Parents Council (NPC) and the Department of Education and Youth work together to provide the National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline.

The service opens on Leaving Certificate Results Day and is staffed by professional and experienced guidance counsellors. Students and parents can get practical information and support around Leaving Certificate results, viewing examination scripts, the appeals process, CAO choices and the different routes available after school, including apprenticeships, Further Education and Training (FET), tertiary programmes and more.

The text service will also continue in 2026 alongside the traditional phone service. It was introduced last year to give students and parents another way to seek support, particularly for anyone who feels more comfortable starting a conversation by text. Updates have also been made this year to improve continuity of support. Whether you are waiting for your own results or supporting a young person through Results Week, you do not need to have every answer in advance. If something is unclear, the helpline is there to help you understand the options and work out what comes next.

At Ballymakenny College, more than 330 students are sitting their Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate exams, including 25 families with two or even three siblings taking State Exams at the same time.

For The Student Councils last class Rep council meeting they had a breakfast with Local Councillors. After sending out an invite to all Councillors the Student Council where very grateful for the Towns Mayor Cllr Michelle Hall along with Cllr Ejiro O Hare Stratton & Cllr. Declan Power - Independent for attending. Students spoke about local issues from pot holes to litter, the need for more searing along the PANCR and sports facilities.

Our peer mentors for our incoming First Year students took part in peer mentoring training last week, facilitated by Eamonn Mullen from Foróige.
A huge thank you to Eamonn for delivering such engaging and informative training and for helping to prepare our mentors as they begin their important role in supporting our new students throughout the next academic year.

Our Parents Association have organised a Uniform swap again this year. Washed donations can be left at the school’s reception! You can come in to the swap on Saturday the 13th of June & Monday the 15th June
