🌊🦊 WILDSHORE SUMMER CAMPS – THAT’S A WRAP ON SUMMER 2026! 🦊🌊

And just like that… our final day of Wildshore Summer Camps for Summer 2026 has come to an end. 💙☀️

Today was all about celebrating our amazing Wildshore explorers and everything they have achieved throughout the week. We shared our favourite memories, enjoyed our final adventures together and finished with our very special certificate ceremony. 🏆🦊

Throughout the week, the children have explored fossils, Irish coral reefs, local trees and flora, sustainable arts & crafts, sea glass, beach treasures and water safety — learning through hands-on experiences, creativity, curiosity and, most importantly, FUN! 🌿🐚🪸🎨🌊

But today also gave us a chance to look back on the whole summer, and what a summer it has been. ❤️

🌟 Over the course of this summer, Wildshore has had the privilege of meeting and welcoming more than 120 incredible children.

And while we hope Wildshore has made an impact on them, every single one of those children has made an impact on us too. 💙

We’ve watched children arrive a little nervous and leave full of confidence. We’ve seen creativity come alive, questions being asked, discoveries being made and children encouraging and helping one another.

But perhaps one of the most special things has been watching new friendships begin because of camp. 🥹❤️ Children who had never met before have explored beaches together, created art side by side, shared discoveries, laughed together and formed friendships that we hope will continue long after summer camp ends.

That is what Wildshore has always been about — creating a place where children can belong, explore, learn, create and connect while discovering just how incredible the natural world around them really is. 🌊🌿

To our 120+ Wildshore children — thank you for every laugh, every question, every story, every masterpiece, every beach treasure and every memory. You have each left your own little footprint on Wildshore. 🐾💙

And to every parent and family who trusted us with their children this summer, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your support has allowed this little idea to grow into something incredibly special.

Summer camp may be finished for 2026… but Wildshore’s adventure is only beginning. 👀🦊🌊

Until our next adventure — keep exploring, keep creating, keep making friendships and keep looking after our beautiful wild shores. 💙

🌿🌳 DAY 4 AT WILDSHORE SUMMER CAMP – NATURE, ART & SUNSHINE! ☀️🎨🌊

What a beautiful Day 4 we had at Wildshore Summer Camp! Today was all about slowing down, looking closely at the world around us and discovering just how much nature is right on our doorstep. 💚

🔎 Our Nature Hunt
We headed outdoors on a nature hunt to identify some of our local trees, plants and flora. The children became little nature detectives, looking closely at leaves, shapes, textures and colours and learning how we can use these clues to tell different species apart. 🌳🍃🌼

Activities like this help children develop observation skills, curiosity, environmental awareness and an appreciation for local biodiversity — and there’s no better classroom than the outdoors! 🌍🐝

🎨 From Nature to Art – Mono Printing
Back at camp, we took inspiration from everything we had discovered and moved on to mono printing. The children explored shape, pattern, texture and colour to create their own unique prints. No two prints are ever exactly the same, which made every creation completely individual! 🍃🖌️

We love seeing the children connect nature, science and creativity through hands-on learning. When children can explore, touch, investigate and then create from what they have discovered, learning becomes an experience rather than just a lesson. 💚

🥪 After all that exploring and creating, it was time for lunch, before finishing our day in the best possible way…

☀️🌊 FUN IN THE SUNSHINE ON THE BEACH!
With the sun shining, we headed to the beach for some well-earned free play, laughter and fun with friends. 🏖️

Another day filled with learning, creativity, friendship, fresh air and happy memories — exactly what Wildshore is all about. 🌿🌊

Tomorrow is DAY 5 and our final day together! 🎉 We can’t believe how quickly this week has gone. 💙

🌊🪸 DAY 3 AT WILDSHORE SUMMER CAMP – HIDDEN WONDERS BENEATH OUR WAVES! 🪸🌊

What a brilliant Day 3! Today our Wildshore explorers took a journey beneath the Atlantic to discover something amazing — Ireland’s incredible cold-water coral reefs! 🇮🇪🌊

🪸 LEARNING BENEATH THE WAVES
The children learned that Ireland has incredible cold-water coral reefs hidden deep beneath the Atlantic. Unlike tropical coral reefs, these corals live in cold, dark waters, creating important habitats for fish and other marine life.

We connected our learning back to Donegal and our own Atlantic coastline, helping the children understand that some of Ireland’s most fascinating natural habitats are hidden beneath the waves beyond our shores. 💙

🎨♻️ FROM RECYCLING TO REEFS!
Next, we turned our learning into art! Using old egg cartons, pasta shapes and recycled materials, the children designed and created their very own coral reefs. 🪸

It was a fantastic hands-on activity combining science, sustainability, creativity, fine-motor skills and problem-solving. The children looked at the different shapes and structures found on a reef and used their imaginations to recreate their own underwater worlds from materials that could be reused instead of thrown away. ♻️👏

And, as always, their creativity was incredible!

🏖️ OFF TO THE BEACH!
We then headed to the beach for some outdoor play, sandcastle building and, of course, a Wildshore beach-comb! 🐚🌊

There were lots of little treasures to discover along the shoreline and plenty of opportunities to explore, play and enjoy the beautiful environment right on our doorstep.

✨ BACK AT CAMP, THE CREATIVITY CONTINUED!
Some of the girls made beautiful bracelets and then decided to set up their very own little stand at camp, offering to add some sparkle to their friends’ hair clips. 💎💕 We loved watching their ideas develop completely naturally — using their creativity, communication, teamwork and confidence while having great fun together.

And one of our favourite moments today was a very simple one... 💌

Two girls who met and became friends through Wildshore exchanged addresses so they can become pen pals and stay in contact after camp. 🥹❤️

For us, that is just as special as everything else we learn during the week. Wildshore is about science, nature, creativity and outdoor adventures, but it is also about children meeting new people, growing in confidence, forming friendships and creating memories together.

Day 3 gave us marine science, sustainability, recycled art, beach exploration, creativity, friendship and lots of fun! 🌊🪸♻️🐚

Another wonderful day of learning through hands-on experiences at Wildshore. 💙

🌊🦊 WILDSHORE SUMMER CAMPS – DAY 2! 🦊🌊

What a fantastic Day 2 we had at Wildshore Summer Camps in Donegal Town! 💙 Today was packed with creativity, science, discovery and hands-on learning — with plenty of fun along the way!

📿🌊 SEA-THEMED BRACELETS

We started our morning designing and making our own sea-themed bracelets. This activity encouraged fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and patience as the children carefully threaded their beads.

Choosing their own colours, patterns and designs also encouraged creativity, independence and decision-making, and we loved seeing everyone's individual creations. 🎨💙

🦴🔎 BECOMING PALAEONTOLOGISTS

Next, we travelled millions of years back in time as we explored the fascinating world of fossils!

We learned what fossils are, how they are formed and how they give us clues about the plants, animals and environments that existed millions of years ago. 🌍

We definitely had some budding palaeontologists and archaeologists among us today! 🧑‍🔬🔍

Then it was time to put that learning into action by creating our very own fossils. The children explored shapes, textures, patterns and impressions while using their imagination to create some fantastic pieces.

This is such an important part of the Wildshore approach. 💙 When children get to learn through hands-on experiences, it can spark their interest and curiosity in a way that simply hearing about a subject sometimes can't. They get to touch, create, investigate, ask questions and make their own discoveries — turning learning into an experience they can connect with and remember. 🌱🧠✨

🍎 After a well-earned snack, we headed outdoors for our fossil and shoreline hunt! 🔎🌊

On our travels we even met a very friendly little pony 🐴💕 and of course we had to stop and say hello!

🌊🐚 THE SHORE BECOMES OUR CLASSROOM

Once on the shore, our learning continued naturally through exploration. The children searched amongst the rocks, investigated their finds and discovered some of our little marine friends living in their natural habitats. 🦀🐚

We talked about where these creatures live, what they need to survive and why we should observe them carefully, respect their habitats and return living creatures safely to their homes. 💙🌍

Without even realising it, the children were developing observation, identification, questioning, communication and problem-solving skills while building a greater understanding of our local coastline and its biodiversity.

We also discovered some beautiful sea treasures and, of course, there was plenty of time for sandcastle building! 🏰😂 Even here we saw teamwork, planning, communication, problem-solving and LOTS of imagination!

🧶💕 CHILDREN TEACHING CHILDREN

We also had a very special contribution from our own Aoibhian, who brought in her beautiful knitted and crochet creations. What an amazing display! 😍

Aoibhian even gave us a little lesson on knitting and showed everyone some of the skills involved in creating her pieces.

It was wonderful to see a young person keeping traditional crafts like knitting and crochet alive. These crafts develop patience, concentration, coordination, creativity and perseverance — but what made this moment even more special was seeing child-led and peer-to-peer learning happening naturally.

Aoibhian got to become the teacher, proudly sharing something she loves, while the other children listened, watched, asked questions and learned from her. ❤️🧶

A huge thank you to Aoibhian for sharing your beautiful creations and your knowledge with us!

Today our Fox Cubs were observing, questioning, designing, creating, investigating, communicating, problem-solving and working together. 🌿🧠

At Wildshore, we believe some of the best learning happens when children are given the freedom to get hands-on, become curious and make discoveries for themselves. When we spark that little bit of interest, you never know where it might lead. 🌊🔎💙

Day 2 complete… and what a brilliant day it was! 🦊🌊

🌊🦊 WILDSHORE SUMMER CAMP – DONEGAL TOWN | DAY 1 🦊🌊

What a way to kick off our final Wildshore Summer Camp of the summer! 💙

We started our morning getting creative with some marine-inspired art and printing. 🎨🌊 Our Fox Cubs experimented with different designs before creating and painting their very own colourful flags. 🚩✨

Then it was time for the wellies and waterproofs as we headed down to the shore for some real Wildshore exploring! 🥾🌊🔎

The children searched amongst the stones and along the shoreline, discovering shells, natural treasures and, much to everyone's excitement, SEA GLASS! 💎💚

This gave us the perfect opportunity to stop and talk about what sea glass is, where it comes from and how broken pieces of glass can spend years being tumbled by the waves, sand and stones until their sharp edges become smooth and frosted. 🌊 We also talked about why we should never leave glass or rubbish on our beaches and the importance of looking after our coastline and marine habitats. ♻️🐚
And our discoveries didn't stop there!

We came across what appears to be a by-the-wind sailor (Velella velella) 💙🌊 — an amazing little ocean animal that floats at the surface and travels with the wind and currents. What a fantastic opportunity for our Fox Cubs to look closely, ask questions and learn from something they had discovered for themselves.

These are the moments we LOVE at Wildshore. 💙

Hands-on learning, curiosity, creativity and adventure — using our own coastline as our classroom. 🌊🌿🐚

And that was only DAY ONE! 😍🦊

We can't wait to see what the rest of the week brings for our newest Fox Cubs!
