Great article from Zero To Three! ANOTHER FANTASTIC REASON TO SIGN WITH YOUR CHILD.
Teach your baby feeling signs such as HAPPY, SAD, AFRAID, ANGRY, LOVE, HOT & COLD. By helping babies learn signs with which to label their own emotions, parents are providing their babies with a jump start in the development of what’s called “Emotional Intelligence,” the ability to read their own emotions and those of others. Children who are good at reading emotions . . .
* Tend to be more empathetic, more likely to try to help others in need.
* Tend to be more comfortable in social situation because they feel empowered to monitor what’s going on.
* Tend to be better liked by peers because they are sensitive to the needs of others.

I have always believed that singing helps with language development. I sang with my niece and nephew every day. It honestly made such a difference. That paired with the signing and rhyming programme gave them a great head start with language.
Join a Hand TuLips Signing and Rhyming Programme in your area.
We sign with every song.

THURSDAY FUN FACT.
Did you know that your baby begins to understand meaning from as early as 3 or 4 months old?
At Hand TuLips we think it's really never too early to start signing with your baby.
I suggest you start with the easiest of all and the most used word for the baby at the early stage - 'milk'.
You must remember to sign and SAY the word, every time you give your baby milk and very soon you will see them get excited, or eased knowing they are going to get some milk!!!

Fun Fact for Wednesday..
"Imagine your child’s brain as a piggy bank. Every word you say is another penny in his or her bank. The more you talk, the richer his or her brain grows. The more you put in now, the richer your child will be later.".

Why Talking to Your Baby Is So Important
23/10/2015
"According to the research, children whose parents supplemented language learning with visual cues, such as showing an example of the target word, were better able to read context clues and developed identification skills from an earlier age."
Sign language is a pretty good "visual cue," wouldn't you say?
