Before the footsteps of today’s children, many others walked these paths.

Rossylongan is a place shaped by time,a landscape where history, nature and imagination have grown together for generations. Beneath the branches of its woodland lies the old estate, where gardens once bloomed, orchards flourished and a beautiful home looked out across Donegal Bay.

In 1912, Padraig Mac Manus returned to his native Donegal after making his fortune in Argentina and began transforming Rossylongan into the remarkable forest it became. He planted hundreds of trees, created gardens and orchards, and left behind a landscape that continues to inspire wonder today.
Although the house is now a quiet ruin, the trees still stand tall, the paths still invite exploration, and the woodland continues to offer moments of discovery, learning, imagination and connection to all who visit.🌳

Today, Rossylongan provides a unique setting for children to explore the outdoors, develop curiosity and experience the wonder of nature firsthand.

A place where little footsteps follow old paths, where imagination can grow, and where the next chapter of Rossylongan’s story begins. 🌿✨
