Mayfield Community School was opened in 1973 and is one of five Community Schools built at that time with state of the art facilities, including a 25 metre swimming pool, full size sports hall, tennis courts, all weather pitch and seventeen acres of grounds. These facilities continue to be maintained to a very high standard to this day. At the time of their development Community Schools created a

new dynamism in Irish Education and were innovative in providing educational programmes for their students. Community Schools were such a success in providing for their students that this model has now become the norm to which all schools are expected to aspire to. Mayfield Community School continues to be an innovative and vibrant school whose structures for teacher formation and student care have received deserved praise from the Department of Education and Skills. Our broad, comprehensive curriculum provides an education for all our students both from within and outside our community and set a standard of discipline and expectation of success that ensures that our students will achieve in what ever role they play as citizens of Ireland. From the Sciences, to the Arts, to social and spiritual development we are a living testament to nurturing our students and being true to our Mission Statement:

"Together we Learn, Together we Care, Together we Respect"

🚶‍♀️ Back to school reminder for Mayfield Community School parents!
This year we’re asking families to use our Park & Stride approach — park up on the Old Youghal Road and walk the last few minutes with your student.
🚗 The school car park is reserved for staff and authorised visitors only during drop-off and collection times.
A little walk goes a long way — fresh air and a few extra steps is a great way to start the school day!

Today our whole school gathered together to celebrate Mr Golden and Mrs Daly as their upcoming retirements approach. The students formed a guard of honour, leading us into our whole school assembly, where we heard heartfelt words of appreciation from Year 5 student Theia Harris Murphy and Year 6 student Sean Ríng. They spoke so fondly about both Mr Golden and Mrs Daly, sharing treasured memories and expressing sincere thanks for everything they have contributed to our school community over the years.

Mr Golden and Mrs Daly were also presented with beautifully decorated boxes by Year 3 students Jane Donovan and Saoirse Wool, filled with handwritten thank you notes from students across all year groups in the school.

It is difficult to imagine MCS without Mr Golden and Mrs Daly, but their impact will remain woven into the fabric of the school long after they leave. The kindness, dedication, and guidance they have shown will continue to influence students and staff for years to come, and their legacy will live on in the values and memories they helped shape. They leave behind not just a school, but a stronger community because of their time here 💫🌟
