We are delighted to say that the Jellyfish Blooms Symposium 8 (JBS8) will be held in Cork, Ireland from Monday 29th June (opening plenary and reception) until Friday 3rd July 2026.

Information on how to book self-catering apartments for conference

We have blocked self-catering apartments in two student complexes near the venue for the conference: The Crow’s Nest and Victoria Mills. The room pricing is below (cheapest for single occupancy is €102 per person per night). We have blocked booked 140 rooms.



The apartments range from 4 to 7 bedrooms. Each bedroom has their own ensuite bathroom [with shower/WC], study desk, and a key/lock to bedroom door. Then each apartment has a spacious kitchen/living room area (with oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and all dishes and utensils are provided. There is also a dining area and ironing facilities). Free Wi-Fi. See attached image.

Victoria Mills: Single Ensuite Room (single occupancy): €102 per night

Victoria Mills: Double Ensuite Room (two people sharing): €132 per night

Crow's Nest: Single Ensuite Room (single occupancy): €132 per night

Crow's Nest: Double Ensuite Room (two people sharing): €162 per night

The rates apply for the following dates: 28th June – 4th July 2026. If you want to stay extra dates at the above accommodation you need to email [email protected] and they are happy to review requests on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability.



How to Make a Booking Using the Promo Code

1. Visit our website: www.uccsummerbeds.com

2. Click “Book Now” at the top right corner of the page.

3. Choose Crow’s Nest or Victoria Mills and enter your required dates.

4. Click “Check Availability.”

5. Enter the campaign code in the Campaign Code box.

6. Select the number of guests per room.

7. Click “Search.”

8. The conference rate will appear based on the number of guests per room.

9. Click “Book Now” and complete all required details to confirm your booking.

You do not need to make payment or deposit at this stage, but payment must be made before you arrive.



If you book a room as an individual, you will only share an apartment with other JBS8 attendees.

JBS8 will offer limited student travel support.

What may be covered? Cost of registration, accommodation, symposium dinner and cultural excursion.
For how many students? Limited number of students.

We will prioritize supporting students from demographic backgrounds and countries underrepresented in jellyfish bloom science to help cover the costs associated with attending JBS8 in Cork, Ireland.

How to apply for support: Please complete 1) the application form by 14 February 2026, and 2) a 1 page CV, and submit both to [email protected] with ‘Student Travel Support’ written in subject line of your email. Awardees will be notified by March 2.

be the first author on a paper or poster presented at JBS8
be an enrolled graduate student at an accredited academic institution at the time of JBS8

have successfully submitted an abstract to JBS8 by the deadline
