Special couple of days for us. On 4 March, we launched Key to the EU in University College Cork with Dan Boyle deputising for the Lord Mayor and Senator Garret Kelleher sharing his views on why we should educate to Europe. Holly Dwyer from Educate Together Rochestown detailed how she implemented the programme in her class and its impact.

On 5 March, Barry Ward TD officially launched the programme in Dublin in European Parliament Office in Ireland and European Commission Europe House. We heard from Ailsa and Sarah from Glanmire Community School who eloquently explained the impact of the programme on them.

Following University College Cork first Active Citizenship Day, Aoibhe Cubie, Head Girl from St Aloysius School Cork, deserves a special mention.

As part of the day, our mock presidential election included 5 candidates, 4 university students and Aoibhe, a 6th year student. They each delivered a 3 minute speech, engaging the students on the key issue they were fighting for. Aoibhe's issue was school needs and she delivered her message so eloquently that she was elected in a landslide. We didn't even to go to second preferences!

Congratulations, Aoibhe on a masterful performance which convinced 46/86 students to vote for you!!
