SMC Past Pupils – Supporting One of Our Own
We are asking our SMC Past Pupils community to come together in support of a very special fundraising effort in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).
This cause is especially close to the hearts of two of our past pupils, Kate and Nuala. In memory of her beloved mother, Kate will take part in the Paris Marathon 2026 alongside Gráinne Deasy ( PP 2010) and Robbie McDonnell, raising much-needed funds for the IMNDA.
Following their mother’s diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease in January 2025 and her very sad passing earlier this year, Kate, Nuala and their family experienced first-hand the exceptional care, support and compassion provided by the IMNDA during an incredibly difficult time.
Now, with the support of her family and friends, Kate is taking on this incredible challenge to honour her mother’s memory and to give back to an organisation that brought such comfort and strength to them.
As a school community, we are always proud to stand behind our past pupils, especially at times like this. We know how strong and supportive the SMC community can be, and we would be so grateful if you could support Kate, Gráinne and Robbie in any way you can. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this post to help spread the word and raise awareness for this very worthy
We know the SMC Past Pupils community will join us in wishing Kate, Gráinne and Robbie every success as they prepare for this inspiring challenge, while keeping Kate, Nuala and their family in our thoughts and prayers. 💙

Great News for SMC…We are delighted to welcome Mr. Frank McCarthy to the position of School Manager. As many of you may know, Mr. McCarthy is a former Principal of the school. He brings with him a deep knowledge of our community and an exceptional understanding of our educational environment. We are confident that his experience will be a tremendous asset to the school going forward.

The Scoil Mhuire community extends its sincere condolences to the O’Connell family on the passing of Mrs. Eileen O’Connell.
Mrs. O’Connell was a much loved and respected member of our school for many years. She supported and cared for countless students, families and staff with warmth, dedication and kindness. Along with Mrs. Fennell, she was a central and constant presence in Scoil Mhuire, and her contribution to school life will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
We keep her family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. May she rest in peace.
