The idea of Rebel Martial Arts Association is to give martial artists across the world a real chance to provide a professional service for their students, while training in a truly practical way rooted in tradition with the scope for adaptability and reality. To help instructors take personal responsibility for what they teach and how they serve the needs of their membership. We help with syllabus

What is Rebel Martial Arts Association About?

✊️ Practicality: Believing TKD is a practical martial art, Master O'Leary has spent over 25 years developing practical self defence training methods based on the movements of TKD and it's base art Karate. This has resulted in a total martial approach to the practice of RMA TKD and there being a logical link from Traditional, to sport and self-defence training rather than they exist in contradiction of each other.

✊️ Freedom: Freedom for clubs to develop and grow under the ethos of it's head instructor rather than the organisation.

✊️ Family: RMAA is not an association, it is a family of like minded people who are interested in training TKD in a practical way, while still following a traditional path.

✊️ Why is it not called Rebel TKD? This is because we are not closed from the inclusion of other styles who may want to join this way of training, and it is through cross-training that we learn more about our art. This also reflects Master O'Learys mixed exploration of other martial arts over his years of training.

✊️ RMAA does not charge anything for membership. The only costs are for personal attendance of grading examiners or seminar instructors.

✊️ RMAA is part of the Irish Taekwon-Do Council. This gives you access to a growing movement within the Republic of Ireland with the Irish Taekwon-Do Council, a multi-association and independent TKD group who are pushing for equality and fairness for all Chang Hon TKD getting support from Sport Ireland with options for membership from Northern Ireland.

✊️ Membership of the International Taekwon-Do Council will bring you access to an ever growing multi-style TKD body from around the world, working together as one family. Access to world Masters and Grandmasters and Northern Ireland clubs can benefit with membership of the Taekwon-Do Council United Kingdom (TCUK), the UK branch of the International Taekwon-Do Council.

(Please note that the Irish TaeKwon-Do Council and the International TaeKwon-Do Council are not affiliated with each other)

Want to know more? Send Master Paul O'Leary a private message or email [email protected] in total confidence. Always happy to chat with anyone about our wonderful martial art.

This is an older information training manual that was given out to a few clubs in the early days before Tkd Ireland was officially formed and just after the Cork clubs broke away from the All Ireland Taekwon-Do Association.

The front page has my scribbles for one step sparring. I can't remember what some of them meant now. There are also places along the way where I put small notes in to remind me of things to have them on the same page. Nothing new or different in there I would say that was not in anything else seen in TKD in Ireland and the UK of 1992.

Please feel free to download and share 🙏

I was asked by Joe Green if I could scan the copy of the Taekwon-Do Ireland Tkd Ireland manual I had from 2000. Here it is for anyone who is interested in it.

At the time we had went fully in with GM Karel Van Orsouw's UTI step sparring, so the syllabus has lots of GM Karel's work in it. Some great faces in there showing the techniques too :-) It's open to download from my drive and I'm happy to have the link shared also.
